What our customers say about their holidays
Carolyna - Verified booking
My husband, dog and I loved staying here - it was so peaceful, a real getaway in a beautiful setting.
We loved the converted barn, firstly it was bigger than what youâd expect from the photos which is a first. It was extremely clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The welcome gift of Welsh cakes, tea, coffee, butter and milk was lovely. The layout was great - the amazing views of the countryside can be seen from sitting having breakfast at the table, on the sofa watching the Euros or sitting up in bed. We loved watching the resident ducks, chickens and goose in their daily routines particularly the ducks and goose following each other down to the pond every morning for a swim. We kept our dog on a long lead which he was happy with as the one time we let him off he moved closer to where the sheep were in the field below the barn and barked which scared them - he was promptly put back on the lead. We had trips out to Cardigan, Poppit Sands and Cenarth Falls - ensure you have £3 in cash for parking at Cenarth Falls as itâs worth it for a short walk along the river and also the gift shop is really lovely as is the owner who was very chatty and friendly. We went to Poppit Sands on a Monday when it was almost deserted. It is beautiful - well worth a trip. As we were on a relaxing holiday we didnât want to go any further than half an hour away so didnât explore Pembroke which was a bit further afield. We spent several days at the cottage reading and soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. We bought all our supplies from Tesco in Cardigan and we have an EV so we paid the extra to charge it at the cottage which was very handy. Regarding earlier reviews, the owners are great and are on hand if you need them but leave you to your own devices. And also some previous reviews mentioned the track to the cottage - it is fine, just take it slow and no problem - the sensors go off due to folliage. Driving to the property there are single track roads through the village which are on an incline - again, take it slow and youâll be fine like we were. It was our first holiday to Wales and we will definitely be back.

We (a family with two teenage kids) spent 12 wonderful days at the Castle School House in July 2024.
Within the picturesque village of Kidwelly it is situated in walking distance between the castle ruin and its former castle gate. The spacious cottage with three lovely bedrooms gave us a lot of room for recreation. The interior has its very own nostalgic charm, yet the place also offers any convenience we could ever dream off. The living room where you find several comfortable seats and sofas is large and cosy and also has a big-size flat screen TV where we enjoyed watching British films and series in the evening (every now and then we also made use of the impressive dvd collection). The big kitchen is extremely well-equipped for a holiday cottage and includes everything you need for extended breakfasts and home-made lunches or dinners, which we liked to have in the comfortable and atmospheric dining room. Alternatively, we could also have used the secluded terrace which also enables you to relax in privacy. On arrival we were surprised to discover that our hosts had provided us with an initial supply of biscuits, tea, coffee, chips, chocolate and even milk so that we felt very welcome and could start relaxing right from the very first minute. A big thanks for that to Christine and Mike. Mike also dropped in personally to make sure we had everything we needed. Living next doors, he was always approachable in a very forthcoming and discreet way. Our absolute favourite in this cottage was the bathroom, which not only offers lots of space as well, but also has state of the art sanitary facilities. While already the shower was far above the average holiday cottage standard (always cold and warm water available and a perfect water pressure!), there was even a bath tub which we enjoyed using after our long sightseeing tours to interesting towns and cities in South West Wales. We will always enjoy to remember this holiday in an absolutely lovely house.

Our second stay at a beautiful home, in a lovely location.
Amazing weather (obvs out of owner's control) no doubt added to the positive experience however Castle School House is simply one of the best we have stayed in. Roomy, very well equipped & furnished, with a lovely secure courtyard for dog. Local walks and area is perfect for those who want a gentle, but active, holiday on the doorstep plus more locations to explore within very short drive (pembrey, llansteffan). Castle literally within 2 mins walk is a bonus (if member of Cadw or English Heritage even better with free entry). Convenience store within 2 minutes stroll, a larger supermarket a couple of minutes drive away although much larger/more selection are also within 15-30 mins drive. Town is very quiet - plenty of takeways, bar, pubs and friendly rugby club. Cottage itself is visually gorgeous, steeped in history and again we enjoyed reading the book detailing the school itself. All appliances easy to use, good quality and sufficient. Welcome pack (incl dog treats) very much appreciated - esp the local soap/and welcome card. Plenty of dvds for grandson to enjoy but the weather was on our side so local walks and area kept him occupied and tired for bed. Dog in particular really enjoys the stay - local walks are good for an older dog who loves some activity on the doorstep. The river walks are great. Locals all friendly and helpful, although the area was so peaceful and quiet we didn't feel surrounded by others. Home owner popped by to check we were happy/no issues but apart from that left us totally to ourselves. Really clear communication before setting off. As mentioned the great weather helped make this week but even our previous stay (with gales, storms and plenty of rain) wasn't dampened by the weather. It's a gorgeous stay, in a lovely house with attentive to detail owners. Highly suspect we'll be booking a fortnight very soon

The cottage is great - completed to a very high standard and very clean. We visited the local pub at the end of the road which was lovely and the staff extremely friendly. The milk shed opposite was nice offering fresh milk, eggs, honey etc. The park opposite was great for our dog, she loved going over there for a run! We also had a lovely walk up to Paxtons Tower, lovely views over the area. However, we were very concerned that the back boundary fence was quite low and contained 2 rows of barbed wire! considering this is supposed to be a dog and child friendly property we felt this was a huge safety issue. If not remedied there will be a nasty accident for either a dog or a child. There are sheep in the field at the back of the property and this makes that boundary very interesting to a dog! There was also a significant gap at the end of the fence separating it from next door (Cliftonville House) - we blocked this off with a wheelie bin and next door wasn't occupied so not a huge problem but it will pose a problem when the 2 properties are rented out at the same time. When we arrived it was a hot and sunny weekend - there was no shade in the garden - we would recommend a patio umbrella or canopy. We also would have appreciated knowing in advance that logging was taking place on the nearly hillside - at 7.30am each morning we were woken up by chainsaws and heavy machinery - we appreciate this is beyond the property owners control but i think a notice on the booking site making people aware of this would have been appropriate and courteous. I assume at some stage this will cease but for now it is a nuisance! No welcome pack which was a shame :( - it would have been a nice touch. If these issues are addressed we think it would a lovely holiday rental.

Just returned from a lovely week in Laugharne, staying at Spring Garden cottage.
It was a nicely presented cottage with an enclosed garden which was brilliant for our dog. It was good to be within walking distance of the estuary, Castle & Dylan Thomas Boat house. The cottage could benefit from a few additions, such as a heater in the toilet & a small corner hand basin on the left hand side of the toilet as you go in, because once youâve used the toilet you then have to go to the bathroom next door to wash your hands, which you have already spread germs on the toilet chain, light switch & door handles. A blind on the landing would provide some privacy at night & noticed this was mentioned in a review back in March, but still not applied. I found it difficult getting up from the low settee with an dodgy knee as well as going up the stairs where the hand rail was so short, it didnât provide support to the full length of the stairs. We have stairs at home so going up & down stairs with a dodgy knee is something I am use to, but with a longer hand rail for support. Not sure why there is a large table & 6 chairs when the cottage only sleeps 4. The beds were very comfortable & had the best nights sleep Iâve had in a long time. Enjoyed our week away.
