What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed at Y Golwg for 14 nights in January 2025 with 2 Collies. The first thing you see when you pull up , is 'the view'. A spectacular panorama of the 3 peaks of Abergavenny. The property itself was tastefully decorated with quality furnishings. The kitchen was fairly well equipped again with quality utensils. The kitchen/living room is open plan with a staircase leading to the upper level. The bathroom has a free standing bath, walk in shower W.C. and wash hand basin with a spectacular view from the huge window. Spacious bedroom, king size bed with beautiful bedding. Towels and toiletries provided. Another wall to wall window looking out over the three peaks. A small cupboard on the landing provided some hanging space for clothes also chest if drawers in the bedroom. Stairs, landing and bedroom carpeted. Downstairs was tiled with under floor heating which worked very well. Lovely local walks from the property but be aware of the sheep. Other places of interest accessible by car ranging from 10 - 30 mins away. Access to the property is via single track road. We had a lovely time but we're very grateful for mostly dry weather. The owners were lovely and communicated quickly by text to any queries I had. The remote location of this property is perfect for those of us who appreciate nature and the out doors.

We stayed at The Coach House over New Year and from the moment we walked through the front door we felt the welcome comfort of the property.
It was warm and cosy and very clean and a basketful of logs and kindling had been thoughtfully left out so that we could relax in front of a real fire without the necessity of visiting the shops. Milk, tea, coffee and sugar were left for us and we made a much needed cup of coffee on arrival, and dipped into the bowl of chocolates left out for us. Yum! We were sorry not to meet Nicola and Harry, who were on their own holiday, but Nicola was just a phone call away should we need anything and she kept in touch with us during our stay to make sure we had no problems. The weather was against us, but we still managed to get out for a few walks with our dog, Pip, and loved the scenery. Sadly long walks were not possible on this occasion as we would all have got soaked. But everyone we did meet was very friendly and we felt as though we belonged there. We so enjoyed our 3 night break and will definitely be returning, hopefully meeting Nicola and Harry on our return. Thank you for an amazing break!

This was a fantastic place to stay for two of us and our dog - the cottage has everything you might need and is extremely dog friendly.
The double bed is incredibly comfy, the little kitchen is very well equipped, and the courtyard garden (more roomy than it looks) is totally enclosed so we were able to leave the door open all night for the dog without worrying that he'd escape. The owners are truly delightful - they're always nearby and ready to either help or to share a friendly chat, but they didn't intrude on our privacy at all. One of our favourite things to do was to drive up to the Foxhunters Car Park at the top of the Blorenge at sunset - it's only a 15 minute drive and the views are spectacular. Beyond that, the Beacons and Black Mountains are all within a 45 minute drive. A brilliant holiday that we wish didn't have to come to an end. Thank you Liz and Kate! X

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break at Rectory Cottage.
The cottage is clean and cosy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The setting is beautiful. We had lovely long dog walks along the river which is just a field away from the cottage. Our host Liz was very friendly and helpful and gave us warm welcome of fresh milk, eggs, flowers and very tasty homemade flapjacks! Our daughter loved helping to look after the chickens in the garden. Abergavenny town is a short drive away and we enjoyed the indoor market and browsing the shops. We would recommend a visit and we would happily return for another stay.

The cottage is beautifully placed at the peak of a hill. The area is very quiet, and peaceful. There are two pubs nearby, but both require a walk on tough terrain, we would advice travelling by car. The house is well equipped, and very modern. The underfloor heating is a lovely addition. The wood fired hot tub takes around 3 hours to heat up on the first day, and then 1-2 hours to reheat on the following days. You need to regularly add more wood to the fire, roughly every 30 mins. Thank you for a wonderful stay
