What our customers say about their holidays
Ms Mortimer - Verified booking
Firstly, the parking information from OC needs to be updated. Someone commented on this in Oct 2022 and it’s still hasn’t been done. If OC gave out the info that’s in the information guide in the cottage, neighbours wouldn’t be disturbed by guests arriving and trying to understand where they can and cannot park. OC are great at keeping you informed and it’s a shame that this hasn’t been sorted out. The cottage is warm and very comfortable. The welcome pack of goodies and the kitchen / bathroom packs are a nice touch. The one log in the basket by the fire hardly constitutes as a basket of logs and there wasn’t any kindling so we had to use the papers that were left. We had seen comments re this prior to our holiday so took logs etc with us. There wasn’t an oven glove which made pulling stuff out of the oven a bit dangerous but the rest of the kitchen equipment was good. Nice to have some nice sharp knives for a change in a holiday let. Overall the cottage was clean, this has obviously been rectified after recent comments made by guests. Some TLC required downstairs. The location is great. We know the area very well so know that there’s not much in Craster apart from The Jolly Fisherman, which is fantastic and Robsons Smokehouse. As long as you know that beforehand you can ensure you have all you need with you. It’s a fantastic base for coastal and country walks and visiting other places up and down the Northumbrian Coast. I’d say this property is great for 4 people (adults) but any more, unless they were children you might struggle a bit with bathroom facilities. Overall we had a great week and we enjoyed our stay at Pegasus Cottage, would we return….probably not as there are so many other properties to choose from.

On first thoughts this cottage was clean and tidy and looks very comfortable.
I had messaged the owners for some information and they very quick to get back to me. I am sure they are lovely people. However, being woken up every morning as early as 5am by Cockerels was not pleasant! They were then being let out at about 7ish as my son would be woken up between 7-730 with one shouting at his window. The main bed was like a concrete pad with cracks in the frame, so everytime you moved it would make a noise. Also, the boil sounded like a train in the night behind the bedroom wall. If you didn't leave the boiler on, very little hot water in the morning! There generally wasn't enough hot water for 4 people to shower in the morning or night anyway. It was my fault for not reading. However, there is no washing machine at this cottage. So for us as a family of 4 and a dog for 7 nights was not practical. We have stayed in lots of cottages and this is the first one without a washing machine. The rest of the kitchen is fairly well equipped. We are from North Yorkshire and also have our own chickens and spend alot of time in the moors, so we are very much suited to country life. We are aware of current problems with wild rabbits with myxomatosis, we saw a couple while there. There was also a few dead rabbits rotting away within a few meters of the cottage. So had to be careful with the dog. (Need to be moved really) Also, not from the dead rabbits, but the first few days there was a smell of death hanging around which is very unpleasant. With all this said, we checked out 2 days early as we were all very tired from lack of sleep. For a family this cottage would be ok for a weekend, but that is it.

We have just returned from our second stay at this beautiful cottage in Bamburgh having enjoyed another wonderful holiday. The location is perfect, in very easy reach of the beach, local shops (ie for ice-creams and lovely meals out) and of course Bamburgh Castle itself. The views of the castle from the cottage are second to none. During our first stay last year it was just my wife, my dog and I, and we enjoyed it so much we brought two of our best friends with us this time! Our friends loved it so much that they are going to book to come again themselves! The cottage interior is of outstanding quality, beautifully curated decor and facilities, with everything that you could possibly need for your stay. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday in outstanding surroundings, in beautiful Northumberland with endless beaches, castles and islands to visit (Holy Island / Lindisfarne is a must-see, just make sure to check the causeway crossing times!) and to come home to relax in a first-class cottage with views and garden seating (front or back gardens), then this is the holiday for you. Highly recommended, we will be coming back again!

Our second stay at this cottage, and we enjoyed it as much as before.
The facilities are all fine. It is clean, cosy and comfortable. We did have the boiler 'lock out' (apparently a rare occurrence but it was blowing a real hoolie right onto the back wall vent which we assumed triggered it). It was no problem to deal with as there were instructions in the visitor folder, guiding us to a You Tube video. It was sorted in moments, although getting the boiler front off took a bit of firkling; you need to pull at the bottom. The icing on the cake was the wonderful Dark Skies of Northumberland. Not only could we see a beautiful night sky, including the Milky Way, from right outside the front of the cottage, but were also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to photograph the Aurora. Not just once, on our first evening there, but also again (even more spectacular as we were able to see it by the naked eye) on the night before we left!
