Seaton Hall has a fascinating past, the hall was named after the de Seton dynasty who resided from 1130 to 1307, and whose family made allegiances with and marriages to the Scottish Royal family. Passed down through generations, before slipping into disrepair. The present owner (who is descended from one of the previous residents Sir Francis Bigod) purchased the estate in 2002. He has employed a team of specialist masons and craftsmen and has been lovingly rebuilding and restoring this incredible place of local heritage. The local cafe and bistro, owned by the owners, open seven days a week is well worth a visit after a day of exploring!
There is something to delight everyone in the area, with picturesque walking trails, including the Cleveland Way leading across the cliff tops. Whitby, with its cobbled old town, independent shops and cafes, boat trips and the iconic Abbey ruins makes a great day out. Saltburn is a surfer’s paradise, with a beautiful Victorian pier. You can take a trip on the steam train across the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, taking in the views and visiting some beautiful villages along the way. For children you can ride the miniature train in Ruswarp before hiring a boat to row along the river. Youngsters are sure to be delighted playing on the beach as well as visiting the arcades and miniature golf in Whitby, for an extra special treat you can even take them to Flamingo Land theme park and zoo. We've been renting holiday accommodation, at home and abroad for 40 + years, and Seaton Cottage is up with the very best we've ever experienced. Cosiness, (there in March), decor, great TV, quirkiness, attention to detail, definitely location, and much more besides. We felt very comfortable indeed and would be hard pressed to find any negatives. We fully intend to book again.

Fantastic stay at Seaton Cottage. Our third time at Seaton Hall but first at the cottage. Lovely cottage, clean, warm and comfortable. Had everything we needed for our stay. Short walk to Staithes and close to all local attractions.
