About this property

Shore Road, a charming two-bedroom abode, is perched in the breathtaking coastal village of Culdaff, County Donegal. Located close to local amenities, with a beach just a short stroll away, this pet-friendly abode is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway with family or friends. Step through the door and be welcomed to a tranquil retreat, perfect for those looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Be instantly impressed by the open-plan living space, where the kitchen, dining area, and sitting area will be a delight for any aspiring chef; enjoy a home-cooked meal with loved ones, toasting to a fabulous getaway over a bottle of fizz before heading out to the decking area to continue your evening around the fire pit. Pop corks until sundown, then make your way up to the first-floor, mezzanine-style snug where you can cosy up by the woodburning stove and plan your itinerary for the upcoming days. When sleep calls, freshen up with use of the ground-floor bath, indulging a long soak or revitalising shower before retreating to either a double or family room to catch some rest. In the morning, kickstart your itinerary at Culdaff Beach, a sandy Blue Flag accredited haven where you can kick back and enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, or even the Northern Lights on a clear night. Just a short drive away from Shore Road is the charming village of Carndonagh, where you can explore St Patrick’s Church and browse local stores selling wonderful Irish goods. Head to Buncrana, a seaside town with a vibrant atmosphere, with plenty to explore such as the beautiful beach, pubs, cafés and restaurants. Alternatively for a city day out, venture to the nearby city of Londonderry / Derry; uncover the city walls, take a stroll along the River Foyle, and browse the shops and eateries found in the centre. Be sure to also experience the Museum of Free Derry, where you can learn all about the civil rights movement and troubles in Northern Ireland, before ambling along The Peace Bridge. A stay at Shore Road promises to be one to remember.

The village of Abbey is situated 7 miles west of Portumna and 11 miles from Loughrea, south east of Galway city on the northern shore of Lough Rea. County Galway’s winner, for three years running, of Ireland’s Tidy Towns competition, the village of Abbey offers two pubs and a supermarket, and a monastery dating back to the 11th Century, from which the village takes its name. Portumna is nearby, offering good fishing and watersports, while the medieval town of Loughrea is host to several shops and pubs, two 4 star hotels, an 18 hole golf course and a lake, renowned for its fishing. Gort, is a medium sized market town on the Galway-to-Ennis Road, situated in a gap between the Slieve Aughty Mountains and the Burren to the south. There is a strong tradition of Irish music in the locality and many pubs stage sessions at night. With the cosmopolitan delights of Galway city and the popular beach at Salthill also within driving distance, this is an ideal touring base.

It was absolutely spotless, everything you could want for is there. Pauline was simply wonderful, just a text message (or phonecall) away. We very much appreciated the basket with supplies waiting for us on arrival. The beach is only a twenty minute walk from the house, which is where you can find a fantastic playground. Many breathtaking views to be seen nearby. Malin head, Glenveagh National Park, Grianan of Aileach to name a few. Doagh Famine village is worth a visit as well. We had a blast exploring County Donegal. If you want tranquillity without being too far from amenities, be sure to book this cottage!

The cottage was well equipped clean and catered for all our needs. Pauline was a great host and nothing was too much trouble for her. I would recommend this cottage as it's close to culdaff itself and within walking distance to a lovely beach and as a base for seeing more of the surrounding area.
