Whinlatter Forest Park is on your doorstep, with cycling and walking trails as well as an Osprey viewing point for wildlife enthusiasts. There is plenty to do and explore for the whole family in the local vicinity; within the village of Thornthwaite there is a gallery and tea rooms only a short stroll away. The Lakes Distillery and restaurant, Bassenthwaite Station café (which includes the carriage where the latest Murder on the Orient Express movie was filmed), The Lake District Wildlife Park and Bassenthwaite Sailing Club all a 10 minute drive away. In the opposite direction, Lingholme Kitchen and Nicol End Marina and Café are great spots to visit in nearby Portinscale and Mirehouse is also a lovely historic house to discover. Keswick is just 3 miles away with plenty of shops, pubs and eateries as well as its renowned Theatre by the Lake, the pencil museum and golf course.
