Ellarbeck Cottage receives high praise for its peaceful rural setting, beautiful views, and friendly, welcoming hosts. Guests appreciate the cosy, comfortable atmosphere, well-equipped kitchen, and ideal location for exploring the Lake District and nearby villages. The cottage is particularly popular with dog owners and families, who enjoy the farm surroundings and outdoor space. While most reviews are very positive, a few mention areas for improvement in cleanliness and WiFi speed. Overall, guests consistently enjoy their stays and express a desire to return.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with several specifically mentioning cleanliness as a positive. However, a few reviews noted issues such as an odour from the bathroom carpet and older towels, suggesting some room for improvement.
The rural, peaceful location is frequently highlighted as a major strength, offering stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. Guests appreciate its proximity to the Lake District and local attractions, though some note the need for a car and limited amenities in the immediate area.
The majority of guests describe the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and warm, with effective heating and a wood burner. A small number of guests found the beds less comfortable due to age, but overall comfort is rated highly.
Guests generally found the cottage well-equipped, especially the kitchen and garden area. The log burner and hot shower are appreciated. Some mention slow WiFi and a lack of a handrail in the shower, but these are minor compared to the overall positive feedback.
The hosts are repeatedly described as friendly, welcoming, and helpful, often providing local recommendations and checking in with guests. While some guests mention thoughtful gestures such as advice and farm experiences, please note that specific gifts or experiences are not guaranteed.

An amazing & peaceful place. Helen & John were welcoming, sharing ideas of different places for us to visit, answering our neverending questions about sheep & farms and even gave our daughters a ride on the tractor - which they loved. We cant wait to book this place again!
