Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: No children under 12 years old. There are 3 steps in the garden, and sloping banks and steep drops within the grounds. This property has a natural water supply via spring.. The Fold is a charming romantic retreat with its entrance, offering stunning valley views and a cosy, character-filled interior. You enter through the kitchen/diner, equipped with an electric cooker, fridge, and ample kitchenware. The ground floor also features a spacious shower room with a washing machine. The living room has a log-burning stove, comfortable seating, and unique floor-level windows—once doorways for farm animals. A raised area with a sofa can be curtained off for extra privacy. Upstairs, the loft bedroom has a double and single bed. Outside, enjoy a private terrace, an apple orchard, and access to Martindale Beck. Walk through the fields to the open fields for breathtaking Lake District scenery.

I stayed at The Fold for 5 nights. Reading the reviews I took bags of logs. To get there and find there is plenty of logs. WiFi worked for 2 days and for what ever reason it stopped in the welcome book it does say that they are getting WiFi so I took it as its getting installed this is why it went off. It didnt spoil my holiday. You come to a place of natural beauty not to sit on your phone. The views are beautiful plenty of walks from the door step. Will return this year. Im only short but low ceiling on your way to bed and then at the top of the stairs. Few brandys...and I didnt learn. Cosy with peaceful and beautiful views.

This cottage is in the best location for people like us that want to have walks direct from the doorstep. No phone signal or Internet and DVDs the only tec available but we found this wonderful. Luckily we went prepared and took everything we needed for the week and I would recommend others do the same as you won't want to leave . Favourite walks were to Ullswater lake and the the church at Martindale with a 1300yr old yew tree. Also saw red squirrel and red deer in the field by the cottage. If youre after nature, countryside and a comfy cosy cottage to return to i would recommend The Fold.

A cosy cottage in a beautiful locationWell equiped ,however there was no wifi, there was a tv but couldn't get any signal. Not that it bothered us too much ( would have been nice to check the weather) just enjoyed being away from it all !Plenty of walks from the door and the views from the garden and terraces were stunning. Plenty of wildlife and a red squirrel visiting the garden. Would highly reccomend and we'll definitely be back.
