This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

Riverbank offers a convenient location in Ambleside with a lovely outdoor balcony and adequate space for a comfortable stay. While guests appreciate the modern kitchen and bathroom, some have noted the need for refurbishment and maintenance, particularly regarding the outdoor decking and living room furnishings. The property's warmth and prime location are highlights, though communication and cleanliness have room for improvement.

Cleanliness

The property was generally found to be clean, but there were comments about a 'doggy smell' and suggestions for a deeper clean of carpets and sofas. No other major cleanliness issues were mentioned.

Location

The property is praised for its prime, secluded location in the centre of the village, with the convenience of an adjacent parking spot, despite some concerns about the size of the parking space.

Comfort

Guests found the property to be comfortable, especially the upstairs area, and appreciated the warmth provided during chilly weather. However, some guests experienced issues with heating and seating arrangements.

Facilities

The modern kitchen and bathroom were well-received, but there are several mentions of the need for repairs, particularly the outdoor decking and some appliances. The lack of heating control was also a concern.

About this property

Riverbank is a well-appointed, duplex apartment perched above the River Rothay in the breath-taking Lake District National Park. Set in the charming village of Grasmere, just a stone’s throw from a hub of amenities and attractions, this pet-friendly apartment offers a central base for a family of four, looking to enjoy the Cumbrian countryside. On arrival, park up in the designated space before ascending the external steps, leading up to your private decked area, enjoying stunning, riverside views. Head indoors to reach the open-plan living space, complete with a well-equipped kitchen, a dedicated dining area, and plush seating to sink into after a day of hiking. If the weather allows, take your mealtimes outdoors and sit at the bistro table, ending the evening with a refreshing tipple or warm hot chocolate. Once you’re ready for bed, enjoy a soak in the bathroom or head up to the shower room, housing a walk-in shower, before catching some rest from either the king-size or twin bedrooms. Begin your exploration of this beautiful part of Cumbria in the delightful village of Grasmere, with its cobbled streets, boutique shops, and café culture. Take a walk around the iconic Dove Cottage – home to the famous poet William Wordsworth, before enjoying a traditional afternoon tea at the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, or tasting a selection of local ales at a nearby pub. For a change of scenery, visit the neighbouring towns of Ambleside or Windermere, both boasting a variety of local attractions, such as the Lakeland Motor Museum, Lake Windermere, the World of Beatrix Potter and many more, before spending the day lakeside, where you can take a leisurely boat trip or a more adventurous activity like kayaking or paddleboarding. Further afield, the bustling market town of Keswick is a must-visit; discover the beauty of the Derwent Water Lake or visit the Castlerigg Stone Circle, a prehistoric monument dating back to the Neolithic period. There’s so much to see and do at Riverbank, the ideal destination for a memorable getaway in the heart of the Lake District

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
