Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Very spacious and great facilities eg washing machine and dishwasher etc. The games that were left were a bonus too Great location, very quiet and no light pollution. Lovely garden to let the dogs out.The only negative was there weren't any logs for the log burner and I'm not sure where we'd have bought any in Grasmere. It would have been useful to have been made aware so we could have bought some with us. We would definitely stay again.

This was our 5th visit and, as long as we think our oldest dog can manage the stairs, we will definitely be back. The location is amazing and the cottage has everything you need for a great stay. We tend to cook a lot at the cottage and it is well equipped. We also love how dog friendly it is recognising that you want to snuggle up with your dogs so providing throws. It's a lovely homely cottage.
