Helm Crag is a highly praised cottage in Grasmere, adored for its stunning views, wildlife encounters, and comfortable furnishings. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, modern amenities, and thoughtful touches, although some mention minor issues with maintenance and Wi-Fi connectivity. Its location is ideal for walks and enjoying the natural beauty of the Lake District.
Guests consistently report the property as very clean, with only a few isolated comments about pet odours and a cracked glass. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.
The location is frequently highlighted as perfect, with its proximity to local walks and the town of Grasmere. The views are particularly lauded, although access for those with mobility issues is noted as potentially challenging.
Comfort is a strong point for Helm Crag, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the apartment cosy. The presence of wildlife and the scenic views add to the relaxing atmosphere.
Facilities are generally well-received, with modern decor and fittings. However, some guests mention Wi-Fi issues and the need for better maintenance of the path to the property. The addition of a microwave and other amenities are positive aspects.
Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as a bottle of Prosecco, toiletries, and a torch for night-time use. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such extras, while delightful, may vary and are not guaranteed with every stay.

You may also fancy a trip to Ambleside or Bowness, home to a plethora of independent shops for picking up local produce and gems, plus a range of interesting attractions to add to your itinerary, from the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, to ancient Roman Forts, there is something for all tastes. Whatever you activities in the Lakes, you can look forward to returning each day to the delightful Helm Crag.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
