Barn End is situated in Watermillock, just a few hundred meters from the Ullswater shoreline, an idyllic position surrounded by open fields with lovely views from the grounds. Barn End is oozing quality and character with its original features and beautiful furnishings. It is perfect for a family break or an activity holiday, with lockable storage for canoes, bikes, windsurfs etc.
Situated an acre of beautiful gardens and only a stone’s throw from the lake, with walks from the doorstep, including Aira Force where you can enjoy stunning views of Ullswater along the way. There are a few local inn’s and hotels that are within a mile from the property, serving hot homely food. There is much to do and see around Ullswater, from the spectacular Aira Force waterfall, to walks on the high fells or cruises round the lake on the Ullswater steamers.

Had a wonderful stay at Barn End which is a lovely, very large property in a quiet location and fabulous huge gardens. It has everything you need in the kitchen (along with a goody basket) and each bedroom has ample fresh towels and complementary toiletries. The fire was setup to go and just needed lighting and there's a good supply of logs, kindling and fire lighters - we had a great time.Downside and there's 2 - the local pub is 0.6 miles away but I'd be wary of walking on the road to it, there's no pavement / street lighting and vehicles don't tend to slow down - you can use the adjacent field but during winter that option isn't the best and second, there's an argument that there should be a tumble dryer - we had plenty of clothes so we were ok but it would benefit larger parties.This doesn't detract from the fact we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again and happy to recommend.

We had a fantastic week at Barn End - it is a beautiful cottage in a tranquil setting with stunning Lake views across Ullswater. We had many memorable hikes in the local area and enjoyed walking across the field for dinner in the Brackenrigg Inn. The house was very clean and comfortable, the bedding in particular was of great quality and we spent several evenings by the cosy fire.
