Formerly part of the village mill, this atmospheric barn conversion stands on the banks of the Lowther, approached by a 50 metre track attached to the owner’s 18th-century cottage. Boasting original beams, river views, fishing on river next to property (fishing licence and permit required) and walking from the door, it is ideally situated within the Lake District National Park. Windermere, Penrith and Ullswater are all within easy driving distance. A perfect holiday retreat. Shop and pubs 1km.

For bookings between November and 31st March there is a fuel supplement of 25GBP per week and 15GBP per short break. Please send a cheque to the owner one week prior to your holiday. We had the most amazing stay at Millbarn. Our hosts Aubrey and Diney were fabulous hosts, very friendly and eager for us to feel at home and looked after. They also went above and beyond for us in terms of travel arrangements. The place itself, after a bit of difficulty finding it (Id recommend downloading a map of the area before arrival as there is no phone signal), was in amazing condition and situated in a perfect spot by a river and close to nearby attractions such as Lowther Castle (where we enjoyed morning coffees). We did the Lowther Castle Loop walk which was walkable from the property and was a great afternoon for us eager newbies. Overall the property was so cosy, and a very special place to spend a week. We absolutely cannot wait to return. Thank you Aubrey and Diney!!

We had a lovely at the cottage. Its very private and looks just like the photos. Really friendly hosts who were helpful. Nice and toasty even with the cold weather! Thanks for having us and we look forward to coming back!
