With an open-plan living room and dining area with wood burner and large Smart TV, this impressive space looks through the bi-fold doors onto the large private patio area with seating and outdoor dining in the beautiful Cumbrian air. There is a large kitchen containing all modern appliances. With the three kingsize bedrooms all on the same floor, master bedroom with oversized private bathroom, plus another with an option to split into twin beds, this exceptional lodge will have you feeling in total comfort in no time.
Situated in the small, rural village of Great Strickland in the Eden Valley, just 2 miles from the Lake District National Park and 6 miles from Ullswater. It benefits from easy access to the M6, and there are peaceful country lanes for cycling and walking on the Lakeland Fells or Pennine Hills. There is a village pub serving food, 100 yards from the house, with excellent amenities in Penrith just 5 miles.

Great value for money.The lodge was perfect. Lovely and modern and no expense spared on the facilities. Very clean. Due to it been next to the dairy farm there were lots of flies. That being said there was an electric fly trap and insect repellent provided. We did have the bifold doors open which probably didn’t help the situation but it wasn’t off putting for us or our guests as we knew they were attracted because of the dairy farm.A lovely arrival gesture of a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine with sweet personalised welcome card. Thank You.Prior to the arrival I contacted Lyndsey who was very friendly on the phone.Unfortunately the pub which was “within a mile” on my filter search is not open and hadn’t been since Nov 2025. Therefore you need access to a car to get to nearby amenities.We would certainly recommend this lodge to other guests and we are thinking to book again next year.

Stayed in the Oaks for the second time and the lodge itself was as welcoming as it was last year with the same special touches such as a welcome bottle of red and white and card. It is extremely clean and has an exceptional well equipped kitchen and the owners leave with most of what you will need to get you through the week in the form of cleaning items(cloths, toilet roll, dishwasher tablets etc) The view from the property is lovely and quiet apart from the odd vehicle passing on the road below. The property is very remote so transport to visit anywhere is essential so be prepared for a lot of driving. Unfortunately a lot of the local pubs we visited last year had closed, and finding somewhere to eat out which wasn’t extortionate basic pub grub. But this and the unfortunate weather we had didn’t tarnish our stay. Would recommend for walkers or someone wanting to get away from it all and shut off. Our four legged friend didn’t want to leave☺️
