Guests generally appreciate the Forge cottage for its cosy comfort, beautiful surroundings, and the added bonus of an on-site shop. The indoor pool and the estate's peacefulness are highlights, with many enjoying the local walks. Some concerns were raised about cleanliness and maintenance, but the overall experience seems to be positive, with guests expressing a desire to return.
Cleanliness received mixed reviews, with some guests finding the property very clean, while others reported issues with dirty crockery, utensils, and stained mattresses. The presence of cobwebs was also noted, suggesting room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with guests enjoying the walks and wildlife. The quietness away from busier areas like Windermere is appreciated, making it an ideal retreat.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with mentions of comfortable beds and a cosy atmosphere. However, one guest mentioned the property was cold on the first night, indicating that heating could be better managed.
Facilities are appreciated, especially the swimming pool and the on-site shop. However, there were comments about the need for more mugs and cutlery, and some maintenance issues like curtains hanging off and the need for smart televisions.

This pretty, end-terrace cottage has been thoughtfully furnished to provide a holiday home of real comfort, perfect for your family getaway. Bright and tasteful decoration blends well with the modern touches and character features to provide a relaxing atmosphere. The three bedrooms share a contemporary shower room, and the thoughtfully-furnished sitting room features a charming fireplace set in a surround of locally-sourced stone. The luxury kitchen with dining area has French doors opening onto a private patio garden, where guests can sit on sunny days and enjoy the views to the nearby woods. A quaint little Lake District cottage, which is sure to delight!
The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.
