We were booked in for February Half-term week. The outside temperature on arrival was 3C. However on entering the property the heating was not on and had clearly not been on all day. It was very cold. On finding the boiler controls we were able to get it going earlier than the set time. We did not feel the benefit of the heating until the following morning. We kept the property at the right temperature for the rest of the week. We have stayed in many cottages in the past 15 years and all without fail had the basics in the kitchen ie washing-up liquid, kitchen roll, salt/pepper and quite often tea, coffee and sugar. None of these were present. Also the majority leave a small welcome pack usually a pint of milk , a small loaf of bread and a cake. Again nothing. Now for the advantages of staying at 1 School Cottages. Its location was excellent being just north of Windermere town. We found we were able to get to all the popular sites very easily. We called at Booth's supermarket in Windermere most days to get shopping and to use the EV chargers. All in all we had a pleasant week as the weather was fairly kind to us considering it was February.I hope the owners read my comments and think about improving their offerings.

Lovely cottage about 5 mins drive from lake Windermere . Beds aren’t very comfortable but ok, couldn’t get heating to work as was chilly in morning and at night . Open fire is great although went the through £60 worth of coals amd logs in 3 nights. Parking is really for one car as you can’t get two vehicles in the space because of the turning angle is very narrow .
