Communication from Alison was friendly, timely and clear from the beginning.The cottage was clean, as photographed and was surprisingly well stocked with kitchen utensils and necessary consumables. Everything worked and the instruction folder was very helpful to have if you were not acquainted with certain appliances.The electric/oil radiators are very effective and keep each room nice and warm. As well as the fire, which is higher up so you can see the flames as well as feeling the heat perhaps more too. Castle Acre is really quaint and friendly. The local shop is 3 minutes walk away, well stocked and run by a nice family. The Ostrich pub is 5 minutes walk and was very quiet but pleasant. They have a big beer garden, great for summer visits. The castle is about 2 minutes away and the Abbey is only about a 10-15 minutes walk, so really good for not having to take the car out.The Abbey is amazing, sadly only open ant weekends, but definitely worth a tour. Book your tickets 24 hours in advance through English Heritage for a small discount.We visited the George & Dragon up on the main road and the food and staff there were top notch.Swaffham is about a 10-15 minute drive away and has a Tesco and Waitrose before you get into the town centre. We were very happy with everything and will hopefully be back for another visit.
