We returned to Kittiwake this year and broke our 15 year rule of never returning to somewhere we’d stayed before. The combination of a great location (2 mins from the beach & 1 min from the high street), an excellent level of cleanliness, peace and quiet, being well-equipped and dog-friendly has equalled two very happy and chilled out holidays for us. The only real drawback for me is the firm foam mattress which is hard on a sensitive back, although my husband found it fine. There can’t be a mattress to please everyone, so I’ll be returning next year with a mattress topper rolled up under my arm. We have certainly stayed in prettier holiday cottages, eg roses round the door & wall-to-wall Farrow & Ball etc, but they’ve invariably turned out to be the style over substance type. I’d say Kittiwake is the opposite - substance over style - the interior is straightforward and is none the worse for that, because you find you relax and get on with your holiday rather than worrying about the odd paw print getting onto fancy paintwork. I initially worried about not being able to park close to the house, or that it would be expensive, but we found plenty of free parking a few streets away, and no one bothered us bringing the car right outside the pub while we loaded and unloaded our stuff. All in all, Kittiwake is a gem of a place & I’ll return in a heartbeat (along with a mattress topper)

Lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Close to all amenities. Nice welcome pack for us and our dog who was very happy with her bed and blanket. Would recommend.
