Have stayed here several times before, and have always enjoyed my visits. The cottages are extremely well stocked with everything you could need. There is the added bonus of extensive gardens, with water features, and a communal garden room where you can play snooker, and relax in comfort. The local area is very attractive with walks starting from the cottage. Not easy to get an evening meal in the immediate vicinity, but it is worth driving to Blanchland for an exceptional, but expensive, meal at the local hotel.

A comfortable, VERY well-equipped property in an attractive semi-rural location. It is spacious and quite traditionally furnished - in keeping with its farm building origins - but with all the modern conveniences. There are also beautiful, well-maintained gardens to enjoy, and outdoor facilities for recreation for all ages. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the area, with easy access to open countryside and the city of Durham.Frosterley has a small supermarket/post office and a fish and chip shop, which we used, and a pub which we didn't visit. Our hosts were friendly and available if needed, but not at all intrusive. We were able to recycle our rubbish, which we appreciated. We travelled as a party of three plus dog, and can recommend Riverview.Just a note about the dog: ours was made very welcome and had great fun; the cottage is open to the road, however, and surrounded by farmland, so a lead and a watchful eye are necessary on walks. If we have the opportunity to stay there again, we definitely would!
