The village of Coundon, although small in size, offers a great selection of amenities with a Sainsbury’s supermarket, three pubs and a selection of takeaways, which is perfect for when you want a night off cooking.

The nearby town of Bishop Auckland boasts a thriving arts and cultural scene with a cinema, theatre and arts complex, whilst on the edge of the town you can discover the largest Roman Fort in the county at Binchester. The city of Durham is just 10 miles away, where you can enjoy a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with attractions such as the beautiful cathedral and castle, it’s a great day out. Take yourself further afield and experience the delightful Durham Dales, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Hadrian’s Wall, the Heritage Coast, Cragside at Rothbury and the North York Moors; there’s something for everyone.
