A good base for exploring the parts of Durham and Northumberland which interested us. Not the best time of year, however, for finding everything open, e.g. Chesters Fort. Enough in Lilydale Retreat to amuse us when adverse weather drove us back to base. Good to have TVs in three rooms. We would have like tea-towels, as we did washing up by hand. No spare toilet rolls, either. Pleasant, spacious accommodation - once accessed! Description warned of steps, though steepness of stairs to reach first floor flat more challenging than anticipated, certainly for oldest member of party.

Amazing holiday accommodation, beautifully decorated and arranged. Local area has lovely shops and plenty of dining opportunities. Very friendly and helpful locals. Central location is ideal for visiting surrounding Towns/Cities/places of interest. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
