Guests say

Guests appreciate the property's excellent location, close to the seafront and local amenities, with the added convenience of private parking. The spaciousness and good heating are also noted positives. However, there is a consensus that the property requires significant refurbishment and better maintenance.

Reviews consistently report poor cleanliness, with mentions of a musty smell in kitchen cupboards, filthy oven, and black mould. The property is in need of a thorough cleaning.

The property's location is highly praised, being in a quiet residential area, close to the seafront, shops, pubs, and eateries, and offering easy access to local attractions.

While the living room and bedroom are described as comfy, there are complaints about uncomfortable mattresses, broken bed slats, and a lack of basic amenities, which detracts from the overall comfort.

Facilities are deemed inadequate, with a leaking shower, broken appliances, and a lack of kitchen equipment. The property is described as tired and in need of refurbishment.

There is no mention of gifts or extra touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

    We had a lovely week

Oh Graeme (owner)! How did it go so wrong? The shower has been flooding the kitchen for 2 years. The kitchen sink overflow isn't connected and pours straight into the cupboard below. The decking is rotten and scruffy with no outdoor furniture. The garden hasn't even been mowed, never mind cared for. This property is a brilliant size in a fantastic location - it could offer so much. Graeme comes across as such a lovely guy I can only assume he is in a position of can't do rather than won't do. The amount of silicone in the shower is embarrassing and the strips you bought won't work because if you read the instructions, they won't adhere to old silicone. The flooring has huge gaps in it. Why did you lay it on top of the old tiles? The bathroom is full of black mould. There aren't even any oven gloves available. Ouch! Also, it is a bit freaky for guests when you doss down in the adjoining garage. Your other property at 1 Coastguard Cottages has reviews (TripAdvisor) that sound depressingly familiar - poor maintenance, untidy, broken equipment. You need a new bathroom, a new kitchen and new decking plus furniture. If you can get away with anything less than a £20k spend on Two The Manor Born, congratulations.I wish you luck and hope you can turn it around - it could be so good. However, with the knowledge that this property isn't market standard, you shouldn't be achieving market rate.Future guests need to know what the property is like so they can make an informed decision. Perhaps you could update the out of date photos to provide a realistic view. Some guests will have saved up and waited for their holiday and to have it ruined when you are aware of the faults isn't fair. You owe your future guests some honesty. Please don't do any more DIY - it is not your skillset.Once again - good luck and best wishes with restoring this property.Future guests - please try and get some verification before you go. Cottages.com were brilliant with my family but rather than rectifying, make sure it's right to start with.Graeme is a lovely bloke and I feel a little sorry for him. This is just such a sad situation.

Location in quiet residential area but near to sea front and main street with lots of shops pubs and eateries is excellent. Also a spacious property with off road parking for 2 cars. Heating and wifi both very good. Easy access to lots of places to visit in the area. But cleanliness, condition of furnishings and attention to basic maintenance were poor. Random collection of crockery and glassware eg only 2 cereal bowls. Only one bathroom, really in need of refurbishment, and no downstairs loo. Shower leaked into kitchen if used for more than a short time - reported to owner who was going to get a plumber in but not done before we left. There were only 2 of us and we ate out every night, so we still enjoyed our stay, but not likely to be comfortable for more occupants.
