Christon Well Cottage is praised for its quiet, peaceful location and wildlife-rich surroundings, ideal for a restful retreat. The property is well-maintained, with a clean and comfortable interior, though some guests noted minor maintenance issues. The cottage's proximity to beautiful beaches and local attractions is highly valued, and while some guests suggested improvements, the overall experience is positive.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, though there were a few mentions of cobwebs and minor cleanliness oversights. The property generally met guests' expectations for tidiness.
The cottage's location is highly appreciated for its tranquility and proximity to local beaches and attractions. Guests enjoyed the quiet setting and the opportunity for country walks, although some noted the approach and immediate surroundings were less impressive.
Guests found the cottage to be cosy and the bed comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen. However, some guests mentioned that the sofa and bed could be uncomfortable, and the lack of underfloor heating in certain areas was noted.
The cottage is equipped with necessary facilities, and guests were pleased with the kitchen amenities. Criticisms include the non-operational log burner, issues with parking, and a shared garden that was not fully enclosed. Some maintenance issues were also reported.
While some guests were delighted with a welcome pack, others noted its absence, suggesting inconsistency. As gifts are not consistently mentioned, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness, and guests should not expect guaranteed welcome gifts.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

The toilet continued to run after flushing and only stopped when pressing the button again and again, if the water is on a meter it might get expensive. We were rather surprised to find that there were no tea towels or washing up liquid, and although we were expected to strip the bed and put the sheets and towels in black bags there were none provided. Although on the Friday some appeared meaning that someone had let themselves in without our knowledge.

Very quiet and peaceful with wildlife on ur doorstep. Cottage had everything we needed, except wardrobe; hangers thin plastic ones so not fit for purpose. We saw hares, mother and ducklings (on patio) and alot of other birds in garden. Many lovely beaches and Northumberland tourist must visits within easy short drive. We didn't go to local pub as it appears to not do food and would mean a walk along road. We reported a couple of faults in bathroom to be fixed after we left. Garden area very untidy (but wildlife friendly!) But we did remove the 2 large nettles on the patio. Minor grumbles tho, overall very good.

To be fair, this cottage was clean (occupants are requested to leave it as they found it, so credit goes to them), the bed and sofa were big and comfortable. However, the cottage was described as a beautiful barn conversion which suggests far more than was on offer. The approach to the cottage is along a dirt track, past semi-industrial installations, and there is no attractive view from the property - just a not very tidy garden. Far from being "shrouded in stunning Northumberland scenery", the immediate surroundings are fairly ordinary - one needs to drive a few miles at least to be "stunned", and the "mile walk to the pub" would take you along the dirt track and onto a fairly busy road with no pavement. The kitchen in which one was told one could "cook up a storm" was only basically equipped, and the "storm" I produced had to be cooked in two separate saucepans. My husband called it "a storm in a teacup". However, we had a mostly enjoyable holiday; just wished we had stayed in a different cottage.
