The pretty kingsize bedroom (which can be converted into twin beds with luxury bedding ensures a great night’s rest.

Stroll around to Doxford Hall for a relaxing Spa or evening meal leaving the car behind.
Perfectly positioned to explore Northumberland’s breathtaking beaches and castles. Just a short drive to Embleton Bay, a vast stretch of golden sand backed by dunes, and the famous Bamburgh Beach, overlooked by its iconic castle. Beadnell Bay and Alnmouth Beach are also nearby, offering fantastic walks and stunning sea views. Newton by the sea is 5 miles with a National Trust beach and fabulous Micro Brewery. For history lovers, Alnwick Castle and Gardens are a must-visit, as well as the charming fishing villages of Craster, Seahouses, and Warkworth. Craster was a favourite of “Vera” often spotted in an episode, famous for the “kippers” and the walk along the cliff top to Dunstanborough Castle.
Further North is Holy Island where tranquillity awaits, discover the heritage of the Lindisfarne Monks, crossing the causeway to this famous little island. The cottage’s location offers easy access to the A1, a convenient base whether you’re travelling to Newcastle, Edinburgh, or Carlisle. Lovely week spent in this cosy comfortable cottage, very quiet location but good for exploring the local area. The cottage has everything you could need, a well equipped large kitchen and massive bedroom and bathroom, no complaints. I love Northumberland, such a beautiful coastline with lots of places to see.

We have enjoyed many trips to Fox Cover over the years as it has provided us with a quiet , tranquil retreat from which to explore the beautiful Northumberland coast.Fox Cover is now ready for a complete refresh as it is looking and feeling tired in some major areas. A new mattress needs to replace the hard lumpy mattress in order to give guests the holiday sleep needed. The bathroom was reported in 2024 to be receiving a complete makeover. The shower floor, curtain and shower head as well as the thermostat currently require immediate attention and refurbishment. A comfort height toilet is also needed if it is going to serve the needs of those with mobility issues. There is also a question of possible damp despite good heating being available. The lounge area despite its comfort looks worn and in need of modernising . These issues are detracting it away from its peaceful location, well equipped kitchen and sunny conservatory. The other cottages on Doxford site look in better condition from photos seen on the web. It would be a great shame to see Fox Cover deteriorate further.
