About this property

Resting in the peaceful village of Felton near Warkworth in Northumberland, Treetops is an outstanding three-storey property which offers spacious and immaculately presented accommodation, ideal for a large family on holiday or a gathering of family and friends. Inside, the house is incredibly spacious and light and airy, helping to create a real feeling of grandeur and with so many rooms to choose from, whether you want to all gather in one space or want to get away from each other, it’s all covered at Treetops. The open-plan living area on the first-floor is simply stunning with a cool sitting area set in front of a stylish, contemporary woodburning stove, an impressive fully fitted kitchen which is suitably extensive and will definitely keep the designated chef happy with all its facilities. Leading off from the kitchen is a large, rustic dining table for everyone to gather and enjoy long, sociable meals together. Alternative spaces to socialise include a snug, a sunroom and a games room complete with a 3-in-1 games table, perfect for kids (and big kids!) to get away from it all. The wraparound gardens are a particular feature and lend themselves to spending lots of time alfresco with loads of space to explore and an attractive patio area where guests can chill out and relax. A hot tub adds a truly glamorous finishing touch to the outside space and you can imagine spending many happy hours here just sitting back, relaxing and soaking up the views over the gardens. This is what happy holiday memories are made of. When it’s time for bed, all four bedrooms are superbly appointed with the choice of two super-king-sizes, a king-size and a double. All offer a calming sanctuary where you can rest your weary heads and wake up refreshed and raring to go. The pretty village of Felton is within a short walk and the castle at Alnwick is also close by as well as those all-important beaches. Warkworth is known for being home to the dramatic ruins of a 12th century castle. Its link to the past continues with the village’s selection of antique shops and galleries and it also has a beach and a golf course. Attractions in the area worth visiting include Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands and Alnwick Gardens. Other beaches nearby worth packing a bucket and spade for include Alnmouth, Cresswell, Embleton and Newton Haven. Time spent at Treetops is time well spent so make sure you book a visit to guarantee making happy holiday memories.

The delightful villages of West Thirston and Felton are set in rural Northumberland, between Morpeth to the South and Alnwick to the North. The village has a shop with a post office, coffee shop, pub and restaurant with a beer garden. Just eight miles to the East is the sea-side port of Amble, hosting a variety of restaurants and eateries including the famous Spurelli’s Ice-cream parlour. To the West is the jewel in the crown of National Trust properties, Cragside, former home of Lord Armstrong and the first home to be powered by hydro-electricity. I had booked this for a 40th birthday weekend getaway with friends. The house was great for this occasion and we all loved the hot tub and the village of Felton is lovely. The property is only a few minutes walk from the Northumberland Arms and Running Fox, we ate at both and I would highly recommend. The only thing that would stop me booking this house again is the check in time and the check out time. You cannot get into the house until 5pm and you have to be out by 9.30am. I think at least an hour should be added on to both of these. A few minor points that we found a bit annoying were they expect you to clear up dishes etc and any mess which is fine, but no dishwasher tablets were provided and only one bin bag. Most places I have stayed like this previously would at least provide a few dishwasher tablets and more than one bin bag. Other than that though the stay was really pleasant.

Would suit families or group of friends. Lovely area. Love the Log Burner! Helps if you take laptop to connect Sky Go if needed. Try the Northumberland Arms (fantastic!) and The Running Foxes (book correct one as there are three!). Only things I’d feed back on are the entry and leave times - seem very late and too early. Would prefer 4pm arrival and 10.30am leave time in line with all other cottages we’ve rented.

Some minor maintenance issues that we left detail of for the management company (details that they may not have discovered eg cooler hood light not working, corkscrew not working and a need for a new set of kitchen knives). Hopefully these have been rectified for future guests. We had a really enjoyable and comfortable stay and would like to return.
