Guests say

Guests have praised Little Nest Cottage for its cleanliness, comfort, and central location in Guisborough, making it an ideal base for exploring North Yorkshire. The cottage's tasteful decoration and high-quality furnishings have been noted, along with its peaceful setting despite being in the heart of town. Some guests mentioned minor issues but overall had very pleasant stays.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean and well-maintained, though one review mentioned floors that could have been cleaner and the presence of dog hairs.

The central location is highly appreciated for its convenience to local amenities and as a starting point for visiting the area, despite occasional noise and disturbances mentioned by one guest.

Guests have found the cottage to be very comfortable, with high-quality furniture and comfortable beds. However, one guest found the sofa uncomfortable, and another had issues with the TV setup.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a few guests suggesting improvements such as oven instructions and a non-slip bath mat. The smart TV was a challenge for some, and a broken door handle was reported.

While guests appreciated the welcome pack with treats, there is not enough information to determine if such gestures are consistent or to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the host. Therefore, the score is set to null, and guests should note that such gifts are not guaranteed.

Guisborough is an attractive market town set in rural surroundings on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Steeped in history, Guisborough is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the town's most notable feature is the beautiful ruined abbey, Gisborough Priory; standing in full glory, to its original height of 97 feet, the dramatic gothic east gable towers high over the market town and has become a well-known icon of the town. This bustling small town has twice-weekly market days, a good selection of eateries, excellent pubs and many independent shops. Around Guisborough sits the spectacular woodland of Guisborough Forest. Guisborough Forest & Walkway is situated in Pinchinthorpe on the outskirts of Guisborough at the northern end of the A173. It extends for 2.5 miles along part of the route followed by the old Guisborough Branch Railway line, heading west towards Nunthorpe, and east to Guisborough Forest, which is managed by Forest Enterprise. It is a gateway site to the North York Moors National Park and offers splendid views of Roseberry Topping to the south. Points of local interest include Highcliff Nab and Hanging Stone. Captain Cook 92s Monument is also within walking distance. The Cleveland Way and the Tees Link walks pass through Guisborough Forest, and are just two of the many walking routes easily accessible to visitors. This super country park has cycle trails, walking routes, bridleways, a trim trail and an easier sculpture trail. The park includes the Guisborough Walkway which runs along the former trackbed of the Middlesbrough to Whitby railway line. This includes a wetland area with boardwalks, woodlands and grasslands. You can also climb Highcliff Nab for fabulous views of Teeside and the coast. The park is also very popular with mountain bikers with a number of super trails to explore. There is an excellent visitor centre with full details of all the trails in the park. The long distant trail of the Cleveland Way passes close by, whilst nearby Roseberry Topping is well worth the climb to take in the spectacular views. An easy thirty minute drive brings you to the Heritage Coastline, with historic villages and resorts, including Staithes, Saltburn and Whitby to enjoy.

It was exactly as described in the listing - a little cottage in town centre location, well furnished and a comfortable base for exploring North Yorkshire. The cottage had everything we needed and a nice welcome pack of coffee/ teas and treats when we arrived. While the cottage does allow dogs, which was great given that we were travelling with ours, there isn’t a garden or a nearby space for them to use (the front door opens directly into the communal car park) We were aware of this before our visit so it wasn’t too much of a problem, so just something for future guests to be aware of too. Overall, I would say the cottage was very good value for money and we had a very pleasant stay. Thank you!

Really appreciated the crisps and biscuits. Beds were really comfy and lovely decor. The floors were not very clean and there were what we thought looked like dog hairs all over. Back bedroom was very noisy woken up each night early hours of the morning by people talking directly outside the bedroom window and parking under the window. Very close to the pub walked past a man urinating at the entrance of the arch to the yard and another vomiting which we did not expect to see. Overall a nice stay and very central for visiting all the places we wanted to go to and visited a couple of lovely cafes locally.
