The property boasts very comfortable beds and a well-planned layout. Nonetheless, the comfort is compromised by noise from the property above and issues with dampness that affected some guests.
The Granary is equipped with modern amenities such as smart TVs and a dishwasher. However, maintenance issues like dampness and noise insulation detract from the overall experience.

The community of Bardsea is perched atop a hill with views of Morecambe Bay. This isolated region developed from a tiny fishing community and farming region into a crucial transportation route for coal, iron ore, and corn. Although Bardsea is no longer a significant port, it still has a strong fishing history and a bar with excellent food and outstanding beer. The historic market town of Ulverston is only 2 miles from the village and still hosts a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Ulverston also hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including an amazing lantern procession in September and a fantastic Dickensian weekend in early December.

Where to even start, when we arrived we were met with the strongest smell of damp and mould. To a point the smell saturated our clothes upon arrival home. The damp was much more present in the room our child was staying in which is not great. There are also no windows within reach of the living space to get rid of some of this smell. The noise from upstairs was unbelievable, I think they may rent the upper level out to permanent occupiers but essentially there is no insulation between the two floors. Meaning you hear every footstep, every movement etc. On New Years ever the noise was so bad I counted at least ten times the tenants walked from the bedroom to the kitchen. We also had to wake up at 6am both mornings as this was when they would wake and the noise was unbearable. The owners clearly know this is a problem due to the other reviews but donât seem to be doing anything to address this. I think Skye cottages should also take some accountability for hosting this property knowing the issues. We didnât have the break we were anticipating over New Yearâs Eve due to the issues above. Avoid booking at all costs.

The apartment is kitted out to a high spec, 3 smart TVs, comfy beds, dishwasher and a lovely rainfall shower. The property owner is just next door and was really friendly, she gave us food to feed the animals in the small holding. On arrival to the property we were overwhelmed by a strong damp smell which increased in both bedrooms. We tried to air the property out by opening all windows (windows are small and very high up). Opening windows did not help the smell and on closer inspection we noticed areas where paint has peeled off the walls in bedroom and has been painted over again - wallpaper is also starting to peel and there is black mould in the corners - therefore, I believe this property has a damp issue which needs sorting. The damp did cause us to have allergies (itchy skin etc) so we had to take anti histamines during our stay. The advertisement doesn't make it clear that there is no view from the property as the small windows are so high up - this felt a little claustrophobic when we spent time in the let. There is also alot of noise from the upstairs apartment - this didn't particularly bother us, however, if you are looking for a very relaxing retreat this would not be the holiday let for you.

Ulverston is not far away by car. It is all clean with nice fluffy towels and clean bedding, the only thing i would say is more attention needs paying to cobwebs, around the double bed base and around skirtings in bathroom/bedrooms. The worst thing about this property is that the noise is so loud from the property above it spoils it, you can hear everything! its like a herd of elephants walking back and forth, i thought we were lucky to start with as the family above went to bed at a similar time and woke at a a similar time to us until the last night! not sure what went on as we thought they had gone home early but then at 3am in the night someone came back walking back and forth opening drawers/wardrobes banging around, (assume packing things) we barely had any sleep. I feel sorry for the owners as it is such a lovely property but we couldn't stay at this property again due it being so noisy from property above.
