This tastefully decorated, high standard cottage nestles in the interesting village of Youlgrave. It has retained many original features and has an excellent location, close to the village pubs and shops. The cottage has been equipped with quality appliances and is situated close to the popular market town of Bakewell. It is in a great location for visiting the Derbyshire countryside.

Cottage is lovely would be nice to have a enclosed garden but we sat out at the front of the property with our dog watching the geese walk past to the farm next door comfortable property with lots of little extras left to use and a welcome pack including eggs bread jam milk margerine some tea bags and coffee we have stayed before and will hopefully be back again soon

We are just back from our second stay in Barnes Cottage. It is in a beautiful village with 3 pubs, 3 cafes, 2 shops and a medieval church. The cottage is situated just off the Main Street and has its own parking space (a welcome luxury in this village). We were provided with a generous welcome pack and the cottage really is equipped with everything you could need to self cater for a week. We have had glorious weather on both stays so didn’t get the chance to use the log burner. The cottage is cosy but plenty big enough for 4. There was only 2 of us and our dog but I am sure it would be fine with four people and a dog. There is a wonderful supply of books and games but there is also access to Netflix and WiFi. There are gorgeous walks along the River Bradford and the Lathkill Dale. Matlock and Bakewell and Chatsworth House are within easy reach. The owners are just next door and are welcoming and friendly without being overbearing. For us, the only possible improvement would be an enclosed garden space so we could open the front door without the dog chasing after the geese and cats from the farmyard next door. However there is a stable door into the porch so we left the front door open and the top of the stable door for fresh air. We will very likely be back again.

A great cottage set in the village of Youlgrave, with lots of walks on the doorstep.The cottage is very well equipped with a fantastic log burner in the lounge, and comfortable throughout.A generous welcome pack on arrival with a friendly greeting from the owners.Already booked for next year.
