The Aubrey is a well-kept and clean cottage in a brilliant location in Bakewell, appreciated for its proximity to town and picturesque setting. Guests have enjoyed their stays, praising the high standard of presentation and the amenities on offer. Some concerns were raised about bed comfort and maintenance issues, but these were balanced by the property's overall charm and convenience.
The cottage is generally very clean, with guests noting its well-kept condition. However, there were minor issues with glasses needing to be washed before use and outdoor areas being unkempt.
The location is highly praised for being brilliant and well-situated, offering easy access to Bakewell and its attractions. The picturesque setting is a highlight for guests.
While the cottage is found to be comfortable overall, several guests reported the beds as being too hard, affecting their sleep quality. The sofas and dining chairs were also noted to be sagging.
Facilities are well-appointed, but there are several maintenance issues such as faulty showers, slow drainage, and a lack of signage. Some guests also mentioned the need for better kitchen equipment and cleaning tools.
Thoughtful touches like providing tea and dishwasher tabs were appreciated, although there were comments on the lack of a welcome pack and coasters. It should be noted that while gifts are mentioned, their provision is not guaranteed.

The town's historic market hall dates back to the 17th century, and a contemporary recreation facility with a pool is close by. In the Peak District National Park, Bakewell is conveniently located for visiting this stunning area. Within reasonable driving distance are Britain's top theme park, Alton Towers, as well as the rocky Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak. The spectacular caverns in neighbouring Castleton and Little John's burial site in Hathersage are both well worth a visit, as are the other stately homes to be visited, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall to name a few.
