Upstairs, a double room and a twin room both look out over the village, and there is a large bathroom fitted with a bath and overhead shower.

Outside, the private garden is a pleasant spot for morning coffee or a quiet drink after walking. There is no parking at the cottage, but guests can unload temporarily before using the local village car park a short drive up the hill. Winster has a convenience store, welcoming local pubs and access to walking routes including the Winster to Bonsall Path. Bakewell offers shops, places to eat, the Old House Museum and a golf club, while Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House make excellent historic days out. Matlock and Matlock Bath are also within reach, with the Peak District Mining Museum, Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham adding more variety. It is a cosy, practical base for discovering villages, valleys and landmark sights.
