Enjoying a superb location at the heart of the Peak District, this stylishly updated limestone cottage provides tranquil accommodation for six guests seeking a wonderfully peaceful refuge. Perfect for families and friends discovering a glorious part of Derbyshire, the tastefully furnished and charmingly decorated single-level hideaway offers breathtaking views and makes a fabulous base for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. The owners work closely with the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, and wild ponies have been introduced to the surrounding land as part of rewilding efforts. This delightful, rustic-flavoured retreat is one of three properties within the bounds of a walled nursery garden on the historic Cressbrook estate; these properties can be booked together by larger groups.
Accessed by a private driveway, this light-filled property features a welcoming open-plan lounge/diner with large windows and a vaulted glass roof, framing magical views across the Wye Valley. The kitchen has wooden beams, stone flooring and a wealth of equipment for preparing family feasts. There is a choice of three handsomely furnished double bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room. One of the bedrooms also has a handy additional small single bed. From the main living area, four steps lead down to the generous south-facing patio with ample garden furniture, a BBQ, fire pit and stunning views towards Monsal Dale. A picnic bench can be found in the shared garden to the front, again offering glorious views. Parking is available for two cars.
The village of Cressbrook is just a mile away, a great base for following the Monsal Trail. With the quaint market town of Bakewell to the south-east (5.5 miles), this part of the Peak District offers a wealth of attractions including Chatsworth, Magpie Mine and Haddon Hall, all within 11 miles.
