Overlooking rolling green hills in the heart of the Peak District, you can find 3 Moorview, an end-of-terrace stone cottage in the village of Flagg, not far from the bustling spa town of Buxton. With its traditional front garden and classic look, this cottage is a lovely hideaway for friends or families, where you can really experience the beauty of the Peaks right on your doorstep. The bright spacious boot room will benefit you well, especially if the weather has been wet, to provide you somewhere to kick off those muddy boots and hang up the soggy coats to dry, before getting toasty warm in the next room.
Get comfy on the sofas in front of the woodburning stove after a day of walking, and watch a favourite film on the TV to wind-down for the evening, while someone rustles up dinner in the open-plan kitchen and dining room, with its classic country style decor and modern appliances. Heading upstairs will bring you to the three bedrooms, two king-size, and a twin, along with a bathroom containing a spacious walk-in shower to wake you up in the morning! To the front of the property is a delightful enclosed garden, lined by stone walls and shrubbery with a lovely lawn space for children to play on in the summer months, with stunning views out to the rest of the surrounding countryside.
Flagg is a small farming village, and although there aren't any local amenities it is a great starting point for a Peak District adventure, located in the area also known as "The White Peak" being a thousand feet above sea level, it is surrounded by many wonderful paths and tracks, with the Limestone Way Walk passing straight through the village. Being so close to the famous spa town, a visit to Buxton is definitely on the itinerary, with its superb Georgian architecture displayed in the form of the Buxton Crescent, The Pump Room, and the Buxton Opera House, and a must-see for all visitors where you can fill up your water bottles with the famous thermal waters from St Anne's Well!
With its fantastic location and idyllic surroundings, 3 Moorview is a great introduction to the wonders of the Peaks.
Buxton is famed for its natural thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town, with eight still bubbling at 28 degrees centigrade, they remain a popular attraction. The buildings and layout of the town were completed mostly in the 18th and 19th century, by the Dukes of Devonshire, with grand buildings such as The Opera House, The Pavilion Gardens, and the Crescent still maintaining their splendour. It was very cosy and the beds were really comfy. Had an issue with the shower that got stuck on very hot and we couldn't turn it down, but that was fixed literally within about 15 minutes after a call to Bridget. The kitchen had everything we needed, though a few more large mugs wouldn't go amiss. Parking is adequate, but larger cars might struggle as there is a bit of a tight turn to get out onto the road to avoid having to back out on a blind corner. We LOVED the area! Made friends with some young bullocks in the field next door. The cottage is a good base for exploring the area, with Buxton and Bakewell a few minutes drive away. Stunning scenery as well as some steep hills! We all said that we would come back to the cottage for another visit in the future.
