I have stayed at many holiday cottages and can honestly say this is one of the best. It was formerly the family home for the grandparents of the host (Emma) and that shines through. It is not the normal sterile holiday home, but a real family home, with good furnishings and decor. The cottage is ideally located to explore the entire Peak District as nowhere is very far. Emma has left many books, games and toys to keep children amused on rainy days. The garden is a nice size for playing outside and is also fully enclosed, so very dog friendly. There is a very good pub in the village and many more within 10 min by car. Emma has produced a book telling you about the history of the area, places to visit and good eateries. I can thoroughly recommend this cottage and booked my next year's stay before leaving.

Wonderful base to explore the area. Beautiful view from the back garden. Cottage had everything we needed. Phone and WiFi signal is patchy.Lovely walks from the cottage and we didn’t have to travel far to find places to explore. There were several lovely farm shops with local produce in the area. Emma was a lovely host and gave us lots of information about the local area and checked in with us regularly. We had a wonderful time!

We've just had 4 wonderful days at Goulday, catching up with family. The cottage is beautiful and the host, Emma, could not be more helpful and welcoming. There is everything that you need for your stay in the cottage, from clean beds, a lovely powerful shower, to useful hints and notes left by Emma to help you navigate the local area. The internet and phone signal is poor but my teenage boys discovered a badminton set and we played for hours, as the sun set, overlooking the fantastic views. Our dog loved his holiday too. If you're looking for a break with family, a place to chill and relax, I'd definitely recommend Goulday, and promise that you'll leave with peaceful hearts!
