The bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs, which maintain a constant 28 degrees Celsius, first drew the Romans to the town. Buxton's current Palladian splendour was designed and built under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire in the 18th and 19th centuries, including the magnificent semicircular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, and the Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. These magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and the arts, are still open to the public to enjoy today.

Kitchen and bathroom are very old, but certainly useable and fully functional. We would definitely use again when in the area visiting relatives. One note to property owner, we couldn't get the gas fired log burner to work, there was a small metal piece on the floor next to it that may have been part of it?? We turned the gas off at the valve behind it.

The loo seat is a bit flimsy and won't survive a season! House is lovely and warm. All new equipment although we didn't use the washer or dishwasher. The railway / quarry workings were a bit noisier than anticipated. Window open on a warm night in the summer might be less than ideal.

The cottage is cosy and comfortable. Everything provided cannot find fault with anything. Recommended and we hope to book again in the future.
