Set on a working farm high on the hills between Charlesworth and Glossop, and adjacent to the owners’ home, The Hayloft provides a perfect opportunity for those looking for a rural break within the Peak District National Park. Set out over three floors, the location provides spectacular panoramic views over Kinder Scout and the surrounding area, with the convenience of ample shops and amenities close by. For anyone with farming questions, the friendly owners are actively involved in teaching people about farming life. The owners have two stables available and they are just 100 yards from the Pennine Bridleway, which is at the end of their farm track.
For those wanting to explore the area on foot, ample scenic walks radiate and pass through the area. If you’re out and about by car, although rural, there’s easy access to the surrounding Peak District towns and villages. The traditional village of Charlesworth is just 5 minutes by car, and home to village shops and some good food serving pubs. The popular and bustling market town of Glossop is around 10 minutes and here you’ll find ample shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a direct train link into Manchester. The larger village of Hayfield is also around 10 minutes, and incredibly popular with walkers due its close proximity to Kinder Scout.
Venturing further afield within 30 minutes you have the beautiful village of Castleton, Edale which is home to the start or end of the Pennine Way, and the spa town of Buxton, complete with its new 5 star Spa Hotel (2020). The ever popular market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and estate can be reached in around 45 minutes, as can the Derwent Valley reservoirs, where The Dambusters practised low-level flying in World War II. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

The Hayloft was perfect for us. You need a car to get about but the walks from the Hayloft were brilliant. Stunning views, great walks, the premises was all we hoped for. Comfy and snuggly for time in watching the weather clear.Some lovely pubs nearby, walkable and drive to. Sally was really amiable. An absolute top host, knowledge of local points of interest and eateries and although busy never too busy to talk to us which was great as she leads an interesting life.Loved it!!

A lovely week in a beautiful part of England.Walks and local area easily accessible, with the likes is Castleton and Bakewell within 30 to 40 minutes away, along with magnificent walking routes.The Hayloft was beautifully clean and a nice quiet home-from-home.Host was friendly and accessible but not intrusive.When we take our next break to Derbyshire, we will definitely look to staying again.
