It has been beautifully resorted retaining charming period features, with beamed ceilings and a beautiful Derbyshire stone fireplace, complete with multi-fuel stove. A simply fascinating base, located within yards from quaint local and independently run shops, tea rooms and the famous village pub, which is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Derbyshire. The surrounding area offers inspiring and varied scenery, with walking and cycling in the beautiful Hope Valley countryside, and stunning views across the Derwent Valley. Family attractions within easy reach such as the magnificent historic houses of Eyam Hall, located in the centre of the village, Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. The bustling market town of Bakewell, famous for its tarts and puddings, and the ever popular spa town of Buxton with its opera house and diverse architecture can be reached within 30 minutes. Matlock Bath, also known as ’Little Switzerland’, with its cable car rides and other family attractions nearby. For those seeking an adrenalin rush, Alton Towers can be reached within an hour. Other local villages include Tideswell, with its remarkable church known as the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, and Hathersage, home to one of the few remaining open air swimming pools, and famous for its associations with both Robin Hood and the Eyre family. We loved our shot break at The Causeway. A lovely cosy cottage in a perfect location, in the centre of the village, and close to many Peak District attractions. The cottage is a warm and welcoming home from home with everything you need. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic stay in this warm welcoming cottage. It was perfect for us and we settled in immediately. Comfy beds, cozy living space and great pubs and takeaways locally. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful and there is lots to do. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely weekendwe were delighted with the cottage, it was very clean, well appointed, cosy and a real home from home. It was perfectly located for the Christmas markets we visited and local towns we visited. The village itself is friendly and peaceful with an interesting history. We were really grateful for the recommendations and advice ahead of our stay. We will certainly be back, thank you.
