It has been beautifully resorted retaining charming period features, with beamed ceilings and a beautiful Derbyshire stone fireplace, complete with multi-fuel stove. A simply fascinating base, located within yards from quaint local and independently run shops, tea rooms and the famous village pub, which is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Derbyshire. The surrounding area offers inspiring and varied scenery, with walking and cycling in the beautiful Hope Valley countryside, and stunning views across the Derwent Valley. Family attractions within easy reach such as the magnificent historic houses of Eyam Hall, located in the centre of the village, Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. The bustling market town of Bakewell, famous for its tarts and puddings, and the ever popular spa town of Buxton with its opera house and diverse architecture can be reached within 30 minutes. Matlock Bath, also known as ’Little Switzerland’, with its cable car rides and other family attractions nearby. For those seeking an adrenalin rush, Alton Towers can be reached within an hour. Beautiful cottage in the heart of the village, very close to pub and cafes. Very spacious kitchen with everything you need including an airfryer and slow cooker. Large living room with big L shaped sofa which is really comfy. Downstairs loo and space to store things is an added bonus. Bed really comfortable, didnt use the second bedroom but was well equipped. Shower had really good pressure which is rare these days. Lovely front garden where we sat and watched the world go by. On road parking is busy but we always managed to get parked nearby and that was on a bank holiday weekend too! Will definitely be back!
