Betws-y-Coed is slightly further afield. Medieval Powys Castle (National Trust) in Welshpool is a 30-minute drive and has a world-famous garden, or visit the charming town of Montgomery, a 45-minute drive, which offers beautiful scenery and walks. The west Wales coastline is around an hours’ drive with sandy beaches. Shropshire can be reached in 20 minutes’ and Cheshire in 40 minutes’, where you will find go-karting, paintballing, quad trekking and Chester Racecourse.
