Guests say

Guests frequently praise the cottage's peaceful and beautiful location, comfortable furnishings, and the warm welcome provided by the caretakers. The property's grounds and proximity to local attractions are appreciated, as are the thoughtful touches like scones on arrival. Some guests mention areas for improvement, particularly in maintenance and updates, but overall experiences are positive.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-kept, with a few noting spotless bedding and a welcoming atmosphere. However, some mentioned the presence of spiderwebs and a damp smell upon arrival, suggesting room for improvement in thoroughness.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful surroundings, and convenience for exploring Cornwall. The proximity to local amenities like a country pub and village shop adds to the appeal.

Guests consistently describe their stays as comfortable, with special mentions of cosy beds and a homely feel. The wood burner is a highlight for many, although some guests experienced issues with Wi-Fi and shower temperature.

The facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen equipment and wood burner. However, several reviews suggest that the bathroom and kitchen could benefit from refurbishment, and there are comments about unreliable Wi-Fi and maintenance issues.

The thoughtful gestures, such as freshly baked scones on arrival and extra towels for pets, are well-received by guests. While these gestures are mentioned positively, it is important to note that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Picturesque cottage in the grounds of an ancient Cornish manor house, set in a peaceful valley with spectacular mature trees, just outside Blisland village with its famous real-ale pub and Grade-1 listed church. Tom is an end cottage of the three converted from barns at Lavethan and has plenty of character. The open plan living space is light and airy, a good place to snuggle up beside the wood burning stove or enjoy family meals cooked in the efficient kitchen. Head upstairs to bed in the two bedrooms which share a family bathroom and from this level you can head out to one of the lawns. With the lovely coastline close at hand, this is an excellent place. Note: This property can be booked with Dick and Harry, together they sleep 15.

Situated under the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor, the village of Blisland retains its age old character and is the only village in Cornwall to have a village green with trees. Around the green, cluster old houses and cottages, as well as the famous, award-winning Blisland Inn.

Tom Cottage is a real escape in a stunning location on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Our children loved exploring the grounds, especially in the evenings when the owls and bats emerge! The roads in the immediate area are very narrow but it's not far to the main roads, making the cottage a good base for exploring other parts of Cornwall. The property owners occasionally organise concerts in the barn - a real treat if your stay happens to coincide

The cottage itself is set in the grounds of an old country house, which are so peaceful and picturesque. The cottage is well appointed and very clean and tidy, with a good kitchen, comfortable living area, lovely bedrooms with very comfortable beds and a modern, stylish bathroom. Outside there is a small garden with a table and chairs and BBQ to enjoy, and a couple of communal swings for the children to enjoy. The local village has a small shop which was reasonably priced, has a good selection of day to day staples, and serves a very good cream tea. The cottage is set centrally, and only A short drive from some lovely destinations including TintaGel, Boscastle, and several lovely beaches. Whilst there we visited Bude with it's sea pool, and several other beaches, all of which were about half an hour away. We will certainly be returning here as there's many more things to do in the area!
