One of a kind, Riverside is a spacious, detached house which has been fully adapted for disabled use and is wheelchair-friendly. With a stylish interior design and a light, bright and airy feel, this property would really suit people of all ages and needs. The property boasts a fabulous hydrotherapy, indoor heated swimming pool with Jacuzzi and hoist, which lifts from ground level into the pool. There are also patio doors which lead out onto the decked terrace with a large outdoor table and bench seating.
There is a wheelchair lift in the hallway, taking you from the ground floor bedroom level down to the lower ground floor. The kitchen has been specially adapted, with some low level work surfaces and easily accessible sockets and light switches. The games room has a pool table and darts, with doors that open out on to a decked terrace area, and ramp access onto the lower garden. The living room is cosy, with a large corner sofa, beanbags for the kids, wood burner, large TV, Wi-Fi and an intercom system with camera to open the front door. The master bedroom has a large en-suite wet room, and there are wide access doorways throughout the property. The garden is fully enclosed, with ramp access all around, and a large covered fish pond below the terraced area. The property can be decorated for Christmas if you wish, and the owners are very accommodating to your special requirements.
Located in Bude, the property is just a few minutes walk from the canal and footpath into the harbour area. Don’t forget your canine friends too, dogs are very welcome at Riverside. All in all, this is a fabulous holiday home, perfect for a little relaxation and recuperation in this glorious part of north Cornwall. Beach 750 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

We've been here many times as it works for us wheelchair lift and pool hoist / pool being the main plus points the main weakness is the curved living room sofa which is too low and bottom falling out of it and only fit for 3 adults to watch tv so diningroom chairs have to be used. We take with us air cushions and/two large arm chair cushions to raise the sofa height by 5 inches and elephant feet for the small side table. As the home is billed for people with disability not having a higher chair available with arm rests is a short fall. Be aware if someone has sight issues the glass fire place hearth could be a trip hazard as it sticks out . We take 2 pool floats, and use cardboard to stop the main bed moving when sitting down on it plus an air fryer, we also find the Microwave oven is very small and low powered. We also take motion sensor lights for night time trips to the loo (as the light switch in the main bedroom is on the wrong side of the door if left open like we do) be aware no tall hooks for huggies etc/ chair in the pool area and no high hooks in bedroom one to hang anything up bedroom 2 is fine bedroom 3 very basic limited storage . Riverside although has 6 beds is not ideal for 6 adults more max 4 adults plus 2 small children. Garden is good for the dogs but double check the fencing/back gate first time you let the dogs out for weaknesses. We also bring a firestick for the tv (of which sound could be better and it’s a bit too high up the wall even with the raised sofa, TV is billed as a smart tv but is an old generation one) This year we found the Wifi a great deal slower which is a shame as on previous visits its been very good. Property lacks a spare key so you have to use the key box all the time (with the key box you have to have a light if returning when dark and bend low) as the outside light doesn’t work The owner is very responsive to faults if made aware. The back decking was replaced a few years ago and is a lovely sun trap and a new wet room floor laid. As with all properties it has on going maintenance issues and is only as good as the care given by renters however it's perfect if someone in the party has poor mobility so long as another adult is around to assist. No downstairs toilet may be an issue but a commode can be brought downstairs if a problem . We take huggies to change into when leaving the pool. My wife’s mobility is limited so we have Zimmerframe/Wheelchair/mobile scooter with us when we come. Games room is nice and the on going for years leaking roof over the pool table has been fixed.Be aware the property lists a PlayStation 2 downstairs and a DVD player in bedroom one (both haven’t been around for years) Fridge is missing a shelf for bottles in the door and freezer has a few broken drawers both are fine for a party of 3 or 4 guests but will be too small if you have a party of 6 unless you eat out rather than cook at home. Some of the pool jets weren’t working this time (only I out of the three endless swim jets was. And sometimes the bubbles don’t turn off first time. If using the wheelchair lift you sometimes have to press the downbutton again to release the door as it stops shortWe’ve been here many times now with our two dogs the walks along the canal and over the point are brilliant with nearly everything you’ll need shop wise close by. We’re be back as soon as possible as we have family living close by.

A great holiday break and the cottage ticks all boxes when it comes to a location that offers excellent facilities for wheelchair users and is also pet friendly. Local walks along the canal are suitable for wheelchairs too.
