Hazel Barn is a well-appointed, clean cottage in a peaceful and scenic location near Falmouth, ideal for coastal walks and beach access. Guests appreciate the modern amenities, comfortable beds, and personal touches like fresh flowers and a cream tea on arrival. Some concerns were raised about maintenance issues and the lack of a secure outdoor space for pets.
The property is consistently described as clean and tidy, with several guests noting it was spotless upon arrival. There were minor mentions of cobwebs and a spider, but these do not detract significantly from the overall high standards of cleanliness.
The location is praised for its quietness, proximity to the coast and beach, and scenic walks. However, some guests mentioned the difficulty of accessing the property due to narrow roads and the beach being further than expected, slightly affecting the score.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, but some have mentioned that the living space can feel cramped for four adults and that the skylight blinds in the bedrooms do not open, affecting the natural light.
The cottage is well-equipped, but several reviews cite issues with maintenance such as broken blinds, poor TV reception, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The lack of a secure garden for pets and the state of the access road were also noted.
Guests were delighted by thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, cream teas, and dog bowls. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, they are a bonus rather than a standard expectation.

Beds were very comfortable and all the facilties we needed for a self catering stay was there. The decor was very good . The location was excellent ; v close to Falmouth beaches and very quiet . However there are a few things which prevented a 5 star rating 1) Very poor instructions on how things works . There was very tatty folder with random instructions . We could not find instructions about ventilation windows in the roof(we managed to figure these out ) we could manage to open or close the in the roof . We are used to a rental property (and we've been hiring in Cornwall for 1 yrs ) having a comprehensive welcome file a) with instructions about all appliances etc and what to do, helpful guides to locations etc. 2) I know its no an essential, but we did not feel welcomed to the property. Yes there was a small bottle of milk for which we were grateful . In other properties we have had a note of welcome , cream teas , local beer cider left (OK we don't think its essential ) just a feeling of not welcomed . 3) No instructions about what to do with the rubbish ( we had to ask cleaners in the next door property what to do )

Easy check in and out. Quite a walk to Falmouth for an evening out - but do-able along cliff path. Would have been nice to have some champagne flutes (first world problems but you did ask) - and cupboard space to store food. Had to reorganise the cupboards to make space to put our supplies - and that wasn't much! If we'd been there for a week, it would have been more of an issue. Great size fridge and freezer though. There is an ant issue under the glass doors/windows in the sitting room that you should probably address.
