Haybarn is a lovely cottage in Fowey, appreciated for its comfortable accommodation and proximity to Readymoney Cove and the town's beautiful harbour. Guests enjoy the quiet location and the convenience of parking, though some have noted that nearby building work can be disruptive.
The cottage appears clean at first glance, but guests have suggested that a deeper clean is necessary. Issues like a problematic toilet seat and shower controls indicate that attention to detail could be improved.
The location is highly praised for being quiet, close to Readymoney Cove, and within walking distance to Fowey and the beach. However, the ongoing nearby construction work has been a concern for some guests.
The cottage is generally found to be comfortable, but there are comments about an uncomfortable sofa and a non-dog-secure garden, which could affect the comfort of those with pets.

We arrived at the cottage with ease, and the location was great with parking conveniently right outside. We loved the open-plan layout, and the kitchen was fantastic. My husband enjoys cooking, so he was especially pleased with how well-equipped it was. The oven and hob were excellent, and having both a dishwasher and washing machine was a real bonus — not to mention the proper coffee machine, which was much appreciated. The bed was also fantastic and very comfortable, which is something I often struggle with when travelling, so I was really happy about that. The location is ideal for walks, with a lovely woodland route down to Readymoney Cove as well as an easier walk further up. We also enjoyed walking into Fowey from the cottage, and having the Co-op just a five-minute walk away was very convenient.Unfortunately, there were a few negatives that affected our stay. While the cottage is advertised as dog-friendly, the garden is not secure, which is a major downside, especially as other nearby properties appear to have enclosed gardens. The cottage is next to a busy road, and there was constant construction traffic coming in and out from two separate building sites nearby. I had quite a frightening moment when my dog’s lead slipped from my hand while I was locking the door, and she ran towards a Waitrose delivery van that had just arrived. Because of this, the lack of a secure garden was a significant concern throughout our stay. The building noise and traffic started early each morning and continued throughout the day, making it difficult to fully relax. The shower was also very disappointing — the upstairs water pressure was extremely poor, and the shower only trickled. There was no hot water unless the heating boost had been turned on first, even if no water had been used that day.The bedroom curtains also need better lining, as they are far too thin and let in a lot of light very early in the morning. Although the cottage appeared clean on the surface, it could benefit from a much deeper clean as it was quite dusty, and we noticed a lot of moths during our stay.Ultimately, the issues with the shower, curtains, and unsecured garden contributed to us leaving on Thursday instead of Saturday. It is a nice cottage in many ways, and I did enjoy parts of the break, but overall it wasn’t the relaxing stay we had hoped for. By the end, I was ready for a proper night’s sleep, a decent shower, and not having to worry every time I opened the door with the dogs.

A lovely cottage, comfortable with parking. Just a shame that there is a lot of building happening on the site.

Great location, so easy to walk to Readymoney Cove and Fowey. Lovely quiet location, I sincerely hope the new builds going up near by don't affect this. With a lick of paint and good clean would have given it all 5*'s.(Had a couple of little glitches during our stay however Ollie, the caretaker, was quick and efficient. )Would happily come back.
