Guests say

Island House in Fowey, Cornwall, is a well-loved cottage praised for its stunning location, comfort, and thoughtful touches. Guests have enjoyed the picturesque views, the welcoming atmosphere, and the proximity to local attractions. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns were mentioned, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found Island House to be clean and tidy, with a beautifully presented welcome basket. However, a few reviews mentioned issues such as a mouldy shower door, dirty marks, and cobwebs, suggesting room for improvement in cleanliness.

The location of Island House is consistently praised for its amazing views, proximity to the pub, and the fun experience of high tides and crabbing in the river. It is described as a perfect spot for exploring the local area and enjoying the village community.

Guests have found the cottage to be very comfortable, well-appointed, and perfect for groups. The log burner and the layout of the house contribute to the comfort. However, some guests suggested that the lounge could be made more homely and that the sofas may need updating.

The facilities at Island House are generally well-regarded, with a superbly equipped kitchen and thoughtful amenities. Some guests noted that outdoor furniture could use some TLC and that the lounge lacked warmth. The presence of a Quooker and binoculars were positive points.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is evident in the welcome pack and other amenities provided, which have been greatly appreciated by guests. It is important to note that such gifts, while a delightful addition, may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

Tywardreath, which means 'The House on the Strand,' is a charming, historic Cornish settlement that appears in Daphne du Maurier's novel of the same name. The town church, St Andrew's, is regarded to boast the best peal of bells in the area, and the village has a vibrant community centred around its great taverns and diverse selection of stores. Near the settlement, there are many safe, sandy beaches with a variety of watersports and recreational activities. A fifteen-minute walk or five-minute drive from the town is Par, a tiny china clay port with a dog-friendly sandy beach and a major line railway station.

We love the layout and aesthetic. Comfortable, well equipped and in a stunning setting. The welcome pack of goodies is much appreciated and the log burner was very welcome this time for those chilly days. Waking up the view of the river is magical. Everyone at The Fishermen’s Arms are always very welcoming and looked after us with some delicious hearty meals. Golant is a delightful village and an Ideal location for walking or exploring further afield. We look forward to returning.

Kayaking from the property was a delight and bird-watching during low tide was fun - the house binoculars were very helpful. The Quooker took some getting used to but is great for a quick cuppa. Thank you for an enjoyable week
