The hot tub and on-site restaurant are highlights, contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. While some guests mention areas for improvement, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While bedding and bathrooms are generally satisfactory, several guests have noted issues with kitchen cleanliness, dust, and cobwebs. Some also reported sticky surfaces and the need for a deeper clean in certain areas.

The location is highly praised for its tranquility, natural surroundings, and proximity to local sights. Guests enjoy the privacy and the sound of the stream, enhancing the lodge's appeal as a peaceful retreat.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the lodge cosy and the beds comfortable. However, some guests have suggested improvements to the sofas and mattresses, and noted issues with light in the bedrooms affecting sleep quality.

Facilities are appreciated, especially the hot tub and well-equipped kitchen. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as a broken washing machine and dishwasher problems. The on-site restaurant is a plus, though some guests were disappointed with its availability.

About this property

Set alongside a gently flowing stream and edged by woodland, 8 Streamside is a peaceful, well-appointed lodge just a short drive from Looe, Polperro and Fowey. With lakes, wildlife and walking trails on the doorstep, plus easy access to Cornwall’s south coast, it’s an excellent choice for couples, families and friends seeking privacy, space and a restorative countryside escape. The lodge sits within a generous plot, offering a reassuring sense of seclusion. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the surrounding trees and draw natural light into the open-plan living space, while doors open directly onto a private deck with outdoor furniture and a sunken hot tub, ideal for relaxed mornings, alfresco dining or winding down beneath clear night skies.

Inside, the living area feels bright and welcoming, with comfortable seating, a large TV and a wood burner that makes it especially appealing for cooler seasons. The well-equipped kitchen is designed for easy self-catering, whether that’s a simple breakfast before heading out or a family meal enjoyed together around the dining table. When it’s time to rest, the master bedroom offers a king-size bed, Freeview TV and a modern en-suite shower room, while the twin bedroom is perfect for children or additional guests. A contemporary family bathroom with bath and overhead shower completes the layout, providing flexibility for longer or multi-generational stays.

Guests can stroll to The Old Mill Bar & Restaurant onsite, a popular spot for wood-fired pizzas, relaxed evening meals and handcrafted cocktails, all served by a friendly team frequently praised in guest reviews. Woodland trails and lakeside walks begin right outside the lodge, making it easy to explore without ever getting in the car. For days out, the picturesque harbour town of Looe offers beaches, boat trips and coastal walks, while Polperro’s narrow streets and fishing heritage are full of character. Fowey is known for its independent shops and ferries across the estuary, and family-friendly attractions such as the Eden Project, Adrenaline Quarry and Porfell Wildlife Park are all within easy reach.

Beach lovers are well catered for too, with East Looe Beach, Talland Bay, Seaton and Lantic Bay offering a mix of lifeguarded sands, scenic coves and dog-friendly options year-round, alongside access to the South West Coast Path. Combining tranquil woodland surroundings, quality interiors and a superb base for exploring Cornwall’s coast and countryside, 8 Streamside is a relaxed, versatile lodge, perfect for slow mornings, scenic adventures and indulgent evenings in the hot tub, whatever the season.

Lanreath is a village in South East Cornwall, just five miles from Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe.

They’re all pretty similar but this one is below standard and needs refurbishment. Lower-than-average kitchen equipment, worn out mattress (resolved quickly by management company), mould over bedroom Velux and en-suite ceiling, mould on living room curtains. No seats for outdoor table and the decking is reduced in size from what’s on the photos. There’s no longer a side section to it. The sofas are very uncomfortable and also need replacing. Septic tank odour at entrance is unpleasant. Steps leading to entrance were slippery and need re-surfacing.

The hot tub was just perfect to unwind weary bones and destress busy minds. It was pretty cold walking from the hot tub back to the lodge though, as although there were dressing gowns supplied (nice touch by the way), there was nowhere to hang them. Additionally, we didn’t want the rain to stop us using the hot tub (inevitably there will always be rain!), so some sort of cover would have been perfect. We will definitely be back, the serenity and opportunity to completely disconnect with the treadmill of everyday life was priceless. Thank you
