About this property
Presented in association with Trinity House, Trevose Head Lighthouse lies on a headland between sandy beaches, four miles west of Padstow. Pelorus Cottage is one of four delightful cottages on this private site, sheltered beneath the headland.
In association with Trinity House, we are proud to present Pelorus Cottage at Trevose Head Lighthouse.
Pelorus is one of four holiday cottages available at the lighthouse which is located on a headland between the sandy beaches of Harlyn and Constantine Bays, four miles west of Padstow. The Lighthouse was built in 1847, electrified in 1973 and automated in 1995. The site is not open to the public and the four cottages are sheltered beneath a headland and are 75 feet above the sea, accessed via a one-mile-long private road. Fine views out to sea and the chance to watch fishing boats coming in and out of Padstow.
The cottages are semi-detached, with the lighthouse positioned in the middle. At the front, there is a communal tarmac forecourt with parking. To the rear, on the sea side, there is a shared walled grass area which is fenced at the cliff edge. (In the interest of safety, it is recommended that guests do not use this space). The South West Coast path runs around the headland and on towards Padstow.
Also on this site is Brook Cottage, sleeping four guests, Verity Cottage, sleeping four guests and Nimbus Cottage, sleeping four guests.

The lighthouse does not have a fog signal.
Two travel cots and highchairs are available on request (shared between the four cottages).
Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge).

Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.
Access roads to the lighthouse site are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
Guests are reminded they are renting a heritage building, therefore certain features such as steps, stairs and floor levels may not comply with that of a modern building. As such, we would advise guests to acquaint themselves with the premises on arrival and exercise caution accordingly.
Please note that although the accommodation is on the ground floor, there are internal steps and level changes within the property.
A barbecue is not provided, however guests are welcome to bring their own, subject to adhering to the safety precautions set out in the arrival information.

We absolutely love the cottage, have been there many times and it really feels like a home, the new decor is beautiful, the larger fireplace, the door from one bedroom to the other is fantastic, and the sofa is a dream I really wanted one for my home it would fit perfectly, the only downside was the mattress it was soooo hard we didn't sleep at all, and ended up leaving after only one night, it was also a shame how the welcome pack has reduced so much in size too, I understand things are more expensive, but no instant coffee , no sugar, I hate percolated coffee, used to be bits left in cupboards or tea coffee pots but that's all gone which makes a big difference. Thiis trip was for our 17th wedding anniversary as it was 17 yrs to the day that we stayed there for our honeymoon and the mattress was like a cloud this time changed all our feelings, and as much as I would recommend to others we will never go back.
