The Holt was a perfect place for an extended family holiday with two dogs. It's in an idyllic safe setting. We enjoyed the hot tub, tennis court , table tennis and kids play things. It could all do with a bit of tlc. Improvements would be repairing punctures, the cottage needs minor decor repairs, but is comfortable. The downstairs bathroom light is incredibly poor. A vacuum cleaner would be a real asset after trips to the beach. The local pub is superb and the walk to Sidmouth is well signposted and a fabulous buggy friendly walk. Sidmouth is a lovely Victorian seaside resort , full of interesting shops and great places to eat. Sandy beaches are a short drive, but also worth it. We loved our holiday and all said we would go back.

We enjoyed our week at the Holt. The location was great and the accommodation was spacious. However, it was not the cleanest place I have stayed, and my 2 daughters have come home with bites on their bodies.It looks like either fleas or bed bugs. I am really hoping it is not bedbugs and we have brought them home. The whole cottage was a bit worn and could do with a thorough clean and things like the door seal was broken- that needs to be fixed.

The lounge area of Holt cottage is charming,comfortable and well furnished. The kiitchen has all the necessary appliances.We didn't use all of them but noted that the microwave needed replacing.Upstairs is very well furnished with a good shower room but the ground floor shower room is not quite up to the same standard, the walls being of a more rural rough castThe garden is delightful with good outdoor furniture.The hot tub is a great addition and was very much enjoyed.The access to Holt cottage is a short ramp with wire netting covering which needs recovering for safety.The grounds of Boswell Farm are extensive and in June were a riot of roses and lush planting.Great for children and dog walks.We recommend the Blue Ball and Hare and Hounds for good pub meals.Our stay was most enjoyable.
