About this property

Stay in this charming period cottage in the heart of West Dorset's beautiful countryside. Foxglove Cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is perfect for couples or families who love walking and cycling. It's at the end of a peaceful rural lane in North Chideock, close to the fantastic Hell Lane Holloway that leads through stunning scenery to Symonsbury and Seatown. The South West Coast Path is another favourite footpath, but there is such a wide variety that you'll never run out of options. Guests enjoy exploring West Dorset and the Jurassic Coast, mixing days at the seaside with sightseeing, fossil hunting and visiting local attractions like the Bovington Tank Museum and Abbotsbury Swannery.

Foxglove Cottage is a picturesque holiday home in a perfect location for walking, cycling and spending days at the beach. It is one of a collection of stone cottages at Chideock Grange Holiday Cottages, nestled peacefully at the end of a country lane in the rural hamlet of North Chideock. The two-bedroom cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and benefits from no passing traffic and extensive gardens bordered by the River Winniford. It's popular with couples and families and can be booked independently or with one of four other recently refurbished cottages for holidays with extended family and friends.

One of West Dorset's finest walking and cycling routes is only a few dozen metres from Foxglove Cottage. Hell Lane, whose name comes from an ancient Greek temple (rather than the underworld!) is an ancient holloway where centuries of feet, horses and cartwheels have carved a path into the ground that sits, in some places, more than 10 feet below the surface. It's stunning in any season, with its canopy of leaves to shelter the traveller and walls of sandstone decorated with twisting tree roots. Hell Lane leads from near the cottage to Shutes Lane and Symondsbury, around two miles away. Continue to the Symondsbury Estate and climb 417-feet to the peak of Colmer's Hill and panoramic 360-degree views that reach from Lyme Bay to Portland Bill. The area around Foxglove Cottage is laced with a network of footpaths and cycleways, including routes leading to Seatown and the spectacular South West Coast Path.

Not only is Foxglove Cottage within a designated Conservation Area and the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but it is also close to the incredible Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The beautiful views will take your breath away (literally, in the case of Colmer's Hill), making every day a joy. Places and attractions to visit during your stay include Portland Bill, Weymouth's seafront, the Tank Museum and Clouds Hill in Bovington, Abbotsbury Swannery and Gardens, and Monkey World. There is also a wide choice of country houses and gardens within an easy drive. Whatever you choose to do, starting and ending every day in the welcoming surroundings of Foxglove Cottage will be a highlight.
