Sea King House in Weymouth is a well-liked holiday rental with stunning views and a convenient location. Guests appreciate the modern amenities, comfortable furnishings, and the thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts. While some guests have noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the property's location and the views it offers are consistently praised. The proximity to local attractions and the inclusion of off-road parking add to its appeal.
Guests have reported varied experiences regarding cleanliness. Some found the property to be very clean, while others noted issues with dust, cobwebs, and pet hair. The inconsistency in feedback suggests room for improvement in cleaning standards.
The location is highly praised for its spectacular views across Portland Bay, proximity to local beaches, and the Rodwell Trail. The presence of a nearby cafe and park adds to the appeal, despite some mentions of noise and antisocial behaviour.
Most guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy. However, some have mentioned that the sofas and garden furniture could be more comfortable, and there have been comments about the difficulty of accessing the shower.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and useful pet gate. However, guests have noted some maintenance issues such as a broken bathroom door lock, creaky floors, and outdated garden furniture.
Guests have expressed appreciation for thoughtful gestures like welcome packs with tea, coffee, and biscuits. While these gifts are mentioned positively, it is important to note that such amenities are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Perched in the popular resort town of Weymouth in Dorset, is this contemporary, three-storey terraced house, Sea King House. Boasting a prime location along the coast with stunning views looking out towards Weymouth Bay and Portland harbour, Sea King House is a fantastic dog-friendly dwelling for couples or a family of five, plus two canine companions, seeking their next coastal adventure. Step into the property, where you will find a cloakroom, and a convenient utility room housing a washing machine, ideal for keeping your holiday wardrobe fresh! Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can look forward to rustling up tasty home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen, featuring a handy dishwasher, ready to savour at the dining table for five or al-fresco out on the rear patio.
After dinner, why not make the most of the warmer weather with your favourite tipple out on the balcony as you soak up the views of Sandsfoot Gardens and the fascinating castle ruins. As the evening cools, curl up on the plush seating and select a family favourite from the TV with DVD player. Make your way up to the second floor where you can indulge in a soothing soak in the bath or refreshing shower, before choosing from three well-appointed bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single. Explore your local surroundings, where you can get up close to Sandsfoot Castle and Gardens and take in the exceptional sweeping bay views, or pack-up your swimsuits and towels and head straight for the glorious sands of Castle Cove Beach.
If you fancy a stroll into the town centre, take the scenic Rodwell Trail which follows a disused railway line. Once you have reached the bustling town, choose from a wide variety of welcoming pubs, restaurants and cafes to suit any taste and budget, test out your swing at the excellent Weymouth Golf Club, watch the world go by at the harbour or visit the remarkable Victorian Nothe Fort and gardens. Other attractions in the town include the thriving promenade, which is peppered with amusements, the wildlife rich RSPB Radipole Lake, Sea Life Centre and the beautiful Weymouth Beach where you can bathe or take to the waters on kayak, canoe or surfboard.
Next stop is Dorchester, home to the National Trust site of Max Gate, former home of the great literary, Thomas Hardy, here you can also visit the historic sites of the Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum, the Dorset Museum and the Roman Townhouse, or if that isn’t your thing, why not follow the Thomas Hardy Trail or visit the nearby Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens. Treat the ones who mean most to a memorable stay at Sea King House.
Cove Castle is the locals favourite beach area, sitting along side the Rodwell trail area, Cove Castle Beach is usually uncrowded, and offers safe bathing from it’s gently sloping shoreline. CoveCastle and Sandsfoot beach sit side by side, both with soft golden sand and the vibe of the best kept secret. Sandsfoot castle is just two minutes’ walk from the beach where you will find castle ruins, pretty award-winning gardens and a small café, offering snacks, drinks and ice-creams. Accessed off Old Castle Road in Weymouth, this area is a real treat for those who want to be away from the buzz and bright lights of the traditional Weymouth Seafront, and yet close enough to venture there when they choose. When you are on the beach you could be forgiven for thinking you are miles from town, and yet you are only a 15-20 minute walk from the old Harbour and access to Weymouth town centre. If you want to know where the locals would recommend you spend your beach days, then Cove Castle and Sandsfoot beaches are it.

It has the most amazing views, good facilities, a lovely cafe just opposite which does open at 9am, but is so quiet you wouldnât know. The facilities are good everything in the kitchen you would want, decent size fridge freezer, microwave lots of storage. Bathroom/shower (all in one) could be better as there is limited space and is quite difficult to get in and out, sofa although looks fab isnât the most comfy but those are the only semi- criticisms.

! Please fix it. Cafe opens everyday at 8am so no lay ins! Needs a deep clean, i swept floor and bought wipes to clean them. Lots of cobwebs esp in main bedroom. Alot of cutlery/crockery etc was not clean. I think alot of the cleaning is left to the guests who are checking out and minimal cleaning done after by the rental company. Shower is difficult to get in/out of due to fixed curved glass shower screen and position of toilet. Access to garden is through 3 doors - through garage and utility room on the ground floor away from living area, which is worth bearing in mind if you are bringing dogs. Washing machine was filthy and i had to clean it before we could use it. Mattresses not good and really need replacing esp 1 of the single beds in twin room. Bedside lamp cant be used as no plug near by in twin room. No cutlery basket in dishwasher and plates are too tall so they have to be stacked at an angle otherwise it wont wash properly. Sofa v un-comfy as were the dining chairs. Anti-social behaviour in park opposite with large group of youths playing loud music, singing, shouting, swearing. This went on for hours and i did actually report to police. The road is v busy and noisy and so disturbed sleep every night even with windows shut which is not ideal in August! Attached to neighbours both sides and sound proofing is non existent. Positives: Views are stunning and were a huge reason we booked this place. Off street parking for 2 cars (1 car in garage) also meant storage for kayak. Allowed pets and had a half decent garden. Proximity to a stunning little beach. Pretty gardens over the rd and cafe for ice creams/coffee/snacks! Rodwell trail almost on doorstep. Could be amazing if a few changes were made!!
