Nestled at the foot of Stoberry Park we have the Gatehouse, a Luxury holiday home perfect for couples or a small family to enjoy all that Wells and the surrounding area has to offer.
Beautifully presented and set all on the ground floor, This spacious Gatehouse has been furnished to a high standard, allowing you the perfect holiday. Gatehouse with a private garden, allowing access to Stoberry gardens by appointment only. The living room has a TV, writing desk and comfortable sofa and chairs, perfect to relax after a days exploring. Head in to the kitchen/breakfast room, which comes fantastically well equipped with everything you could need to rustle up the simplest of meals to a family feast as well as extras like a Nespresso coffee machine for your morning pick me up! Two spacious bedrooms (one with super kingsize zip and link bed – can be twins on request and one with a King size bed) share the luxury bathroom with its stunning double end slipper bath, walk in shower and heated towel rail, a separate dressing room can be found off the hall.
Outside you have two private parking spaces, a private garden with outdoor seating area and also access to the owners 6-acre estate and gardens, you could spend hours strolling round these admiring all the beautiful flowers no matter the season. Enjoy spectacular views of Wells Cathedral with Glastonbury Tor in the background from the main house.
The Gatehouse is the perfect base from which to explore the area, with Wells centre and its Cathedral just a short stroll away, meaning you are surrounded by shops and restaurants all easily reached without touching the car! Further afield you have the Vale of Avalon, Glastonbury with its quirky shops and ancient Tor, head to Wookey Hole Caves and try to spot the Wookey Witch or over to Cheddar with its famous gorge. The beautiful larger city of Bath is reached in around 45 minutes and is a wonderful spot to spend the day, stroll along the river, shop in one of the boutiques or head to the amazing thermal spa for a pamper treat! Beach 17 miles.

Great cottage, cosy, very comfy beds, well equipped, superbly situated for Wells and all its amenities! We had a great weekend for a friends birthday, and were met by the lovely owners with a tasty goody basket! Would highly recommend and stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at The Gatehouse in Wells. It’s a beautiful, quaint and cosy property full of character and charm. The shower was excellent, and the copper bath was absolutely magnificent — such a lovely treat! The beds were very comfortable, and the house was nice and quiet, so we slept really well.The location is perfect too — just a 10-minute walk into the lovely city of Wells. The cathedral is stunning, and there are plenty of lovely shops and great restaurant options to explore.The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need if you prefer to cook and stay in. The drop-leaf dining table is a smart space-saving idea, though we felt the folding chairs could be upgraded — there’s room for something a bit sturdier and more comfortable. Similarly, the sofa and chairs in the lounge aren’t the most comfortable and could do with replacing. We were also a bit surprised that the TV wasn’t a smart one, so no streaming apps, but actually ended up enjoying some terrestrial shows we wouldn’t usually watch — perfect for a cosy night in.We’d brought Scrabble with us too, which made for some lovely, relaxed evenings! Overall, a really charming stay in a fantastic location — with just a few small upgrades, it would be absolutely perfect.Would highly recommend this lovely cottage but if you are travelling by car, the postcode takes you to the road next to the turning into Stoberry Park, where The Gatehouse is, so probably best to use that for directions in the SatNav! I would love to go back sometime soon, thank you to the hosts for a lovely stay.

The cottage was warm and cosy and we had a lovely holiday. The welcome pack was very nice, biscuits, crackers cheese and grapes.We did have an issue with the enclosed garden for our dog, the garden was advertised as being enclosed but wasn't but that was resolved by the owners. Thank you Frances and Tim. We do feel the cottage would benefit from having a washing machine. I was surprised there wasn't one as the cottage is described as luxury accommodation. The cottage is ideally situated to walk into Wells to explore this beautiful city.We would stay in the Gatehouse Cottage again.
