Barrowswood, a semi-detached holiday cottage (ref 29842), enjoys commanding views over Cheddar Gorge in the distance. Its large garden adjoins a field with occasional visiting sheep and is the perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. Strawberry Lodge (ref 29841) stands detached at the far end of the grounds of Barrowswood, enjoying woodland surroundings with magnificent views over the field and across to Cheddar Gorge. Blackberry Lodge (ref W44121) is a single-storey, detached lodge, ideal for a romantic retreat for couples. All three properties may be booked together should you have a larger party.
Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We were on a visit to U.K. to see friends and family and found this lovely little Strawberry Lodge on Cottages.com for our 4 night stay. When we arrived at the lodge we were grateful that Amanda had left the keys in the door for us, the lodge sits in an area next to Axbridge reservoir perfect for taking our little dog for a walk. The lodge is reached by a pathway in the corner of a field and is peacefully quiet, it has everything necessary for 2 people it was clean, warm and comfortable, a modern kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, microwave etc… the furniture was leather and very comfortable to watch the TV and the wi-fi was great although we did need Amanda’s help for connection which she did immediately! The bed was firm and although the duvet was on the thin side it was more than adequate as the room was very well heated with an electric radiator, (a couple of the skirting boards need repair) the bedroom has a large wardrobe and 2 bedside lockers with lamps.The bathroom was a bit small also heated with a small radiator (which does need a bit of a clean) but fabulous walk-in shower was a bonus, great hot water and a nonslip mat which I needed as I have mobility issues (a shelf or grab handle) would have been welcomed but my husband helped me so all was good 👍
