Guests say

The Telephone Exchange is a unique and quirky property in a quiet village, appreciated for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped kitchen. It offers a private garden, parking, and is well-situated for local attractions. Some guests found the beds firm and noted the property could benefit from maintenance and TLC.

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests praising the property's cleanliness, while others reported issues such as unclean kitchenware and the presence of dog hair. The property seems to be generally clean but with some lapses in thoroughness.

The location is frequently described as quiet and convenient for local attractions, with easy access to Warminster and Salisbury. The village's tranquility and proximity to walking areas and Longleat are positives, although limited local amenities were noted.

Comfort receives mixed reviews; guests loved the unique design and found the property warm and welcoming, but several mentioned the beds being too firm and the need for better lighting and mattresses. The spiral staircase was a concern for safety and comfort for some.

Facilities are well-received in terms of the kitchen being well-equipped and the inclusion of games. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as broken fridge shelves, missing bath plugs, and garden upkeep, indicating a need for improvement.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the host in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Shockingly awful! There was plaster missing from the hallway ceiling. The stairs going to the twin room are so steep that I doubt any disabled person could get up there. I had to sleep on the sofa. The fridge has broken shelves, the cooker was filthy, we washed all the crockery and cutlery before we used it.The basin took ages to drain. There was a missing from the bath. The mattress and toppers were disgusting and need replacing. The front door had to have the keys left in permanently and if it shut when you were inside and the keys were with another member, then it couldn't be opened. The photos that are shown on the website are from when it was first renovated and need to be updated. I should be able to share the ones I've taken of as it truly is.I won't be going back!!

A value for money stay. This was good value for what you get. Definitely a few niggles, but I was not paying high-end money. The Exchange was clean and as described with good communication from the host. In a lovely, quiet location with a shop within walking distance. As some other reviews mentioned, the mattreses are exceptionally hard. Very uncomfortable and the 2 beds upstairs do not even have proper mattreses. It could definitely do with some upkeep and the sofa was covered in dog hair which was pretty annoying as it transferred to our clothes. No curtains or blinds in 2 of the windows in living room. Could see into next doors bedrooms and they could also see us. But given the good price, if the mattres was changed, we would definitely recommend.

Had a lovely short stay at The Telephone Exchange for a family weekend away to take the kids to Longleat for the Christmas Santa visit and Festival of Light. The accommodation was beautifully clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the kids loved having the spiral staircase up to the den with the selection of games that were available and their bedroom. For our stay, the A36 was closed which meant a 50 minute drive to Longleat rather than the 20 minute usual journey but this did not prevent a magical weekend. Beds had comfortable linen and towels were provided. The place was warm on arrival with the heating set to a comfortable temperature but I would recommend slippers as the stone floors were cold underfoot. The only amenity we found was missing was shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom (and the local garage wasn’t open on the evening we tried to pop there despite google saying it should have been). Overall a wonderful quirky and unique place to stay in a quiet village. Would highly recommend and would not hesitate to stay again if we were to return to the area.
